Job Description:

As our Pastor of Student & Children’s Ministries, you will primarily be responsible for equipping and empowering a team of leaders to lead and love students in our Student Ministry. The Pastor of Student & Children’s Ministries will play a critical role in strategy that goes beyond middle and high school students. To be successful, time will be spent investing relationally with adult volunteers in an effort to build a healthy community around each student. Similarly, the Pastor of Student & Children’s Ministries will develop, release and encourage a team of people who love the children of Bayshore and provide an effective and creative ministry for them. We beleive this position has the potential for developing into long-term ministry at Bayshore.




1.  25-35 years old


2.  Preferred married, but will consider qualified singles


3.  At least a two-year track record of effective experience in a church or para-church youth ministry; not necessarily full-time.  We are not looking for someone with all of the answers and programs, but for someone who has a commitment to grow and develop with us.


4.   It is also expected that he will able to develop and maintain a team of people to accomplish the work of Children’s (birth-6th grade) ministry.


5.  Seminary degree preferred; Biblical education a necessity.  Seminary trained or extensive youth ministry experience highly recommended.  Desirous of someone who is not wondering where they are going, but someone who has taken significant steps to prepare themselves for a long-term ministry.  We believe there is an opportunity to grow and develop further as a pastor for the long-term at Bayshore.

b)    Leadership abilities that thrive in a team-based environment.

c)     Loves young people (Middle & High School) and enjoys ministering to them, understanding of adolescent development and how to care for students of different ages and stages of development.

d)    Sees youth as a stable, long-term ministry.

e)     Is a developer of people and ministry; dream big and take risks.

f)      Demonstrates personal maturity and godliness.

g)    Is theologically compatible and in full agreement with BBC’s Statement of Faith, Constitution, By-Laws and Vision.

h)    Has a personable and approachable attitude.

i)      Is ‘team-minded’.

j)       Responds well to direction, especially in determining the character of the youth group.

k)    Is an effective leader and ‘gatherer’ of both youth, parents and volunteers.

l)      Is able to function in a ministry environment which requires a person to be a self-starter, functioning effectively without a lot of direct supervision.

m)  Willing to work toward stated goals for the ministries.

n)    In general, walk on water.




A.  STUDENT MINISTRIES (60%; 27 hours/week)

1.  To make disciples who make disciples among our Middle & High School students.   This may include Sunday School, weekly Bible studies, and related activities.  He will be the primary teacher.

2.  To recruit, disciple, train, evaluate, direct and encourage a leadership team of parents, young marrieds’ and singles so that each of our youth has a leader in their life.

3.  To establish and utilize a parent leadership team to assist in the ministry.

4.  To disciple and train leadership among the students and to encourage them in ministering within their schools.

5.  To plan seminars on pertinent subjects to benefit parents and/or students.

6.  To develop and implement a cohesive philosophy of Student Ministries which includes attraction events, involvement activities and growth programs.

7.   To be creative in implementing a calendar of social events to attract students.

8.  To establish supportive relationships with para-church ministries as well as other Student Ministries within the EFCA- TX/OK.


B.  CHILDREN’S MINISTIRES (25%; 11 hours/week)

  1. To champion an effective and creative ministry to the children of Bayshore, resulting in a growing ministry to children in Corpus Christi.
  2. Recruit, train, encourage and resource a Children’s Ministry Team so that we can have the best Children’s Ministry in Corpus Christi.
  3. Be the staff contact with the Awana Leadership Team.
  4. Promote the development of other ministries for children which may include music, drama, VBS, and more.


B.  CHURCH-WIDE MINISTRIES (15% 7 hours/week)

1.  To perform limited ministerial functions such as pulpit supply, administrative tasks, assimilation, etc. as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

2.   To be ‘tech savvy’ so that we can more effectively utilize electronic media for communication and publicity.

3.  To give leadership to a 242 Sermon-based small group.

4.  To assist in overall church leadership by using giftedness to develop effective ministries at Bayshore.
