Compass Church has an immediate opening for a high-energy, disciple-maker of teens. 

Compass Church is located in South Central Wisconsin with easy access to 3 major metropolitan cities (Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison). Dubbed the “City of Parks,” Janesville is a city of 65,000+ residents.  Janesville and the surrounding area offer loads of opportunity for hiking, biking, boating, fishing, open-mic at a local coffee shop. Everything you need can be found in Janesville or surrounding area. 

Compass is a progressive and growing community. Nine years ago, the church built a beautiful 22,000 square foot building on 10.5 acres on the rapidly growing north east side of Janesville.  Plenty of classroom space, gymnasium, coffee shop and more make ministry accessible to the community.  You will join a dynamic pastor in a grace-filled environment. We are a Kingdom minded church that firmly believes in the transforming power of the Gospel.  Compass’ vision is: To Show All of Janesville, the way back to God.”  So, while we’re in a rebuilding phase, we are actively reaching beyond the four walls.

We are seeking a person (or couple) of high character and integrity who can thrive in a busy church! This individual (or couple), will oversee all of our ministry to youth ages 6th grade through high school, as well as ministry to the youth volunteers and families as it relates to their teens. The job description could be adjusted according to the applicant’s gifts and the church’s needs.

Some general characteristics of the successful candidate would be:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in a related field or proven experience in ministry
  • A personal, vibrant and growing commitment to Jesus with a heart of Christ-like servant leadership
  • Ability to listen to as well as communicate with the leadership team and board; teachable and emotionally intelligent
  • Be able to develop and maintain trust with students and their families
  • Be energetic and available.  Know how to have fun, know when enough is enough
  • Be an extroverted (evangelistic/apostolic) person who is willing to engage with students where they are spiritually and personally
  • Have diplomatic, productive and positive people skills; and the ability to handle conflict constructively and graciously
  • Capable of teaching the Bible in compelling and engaging ways using a variety of teaching methods
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment and can communicate and invest in leaders to empower them to do the ministry
  • Understand and utilize social media to communicate and build the youth ministry
  • High energy and excellence in all you do; extremely self-motivated and a hard worker.
  • Must be able to transform big ideas into a realistic ministry
  • Must be a people-gatherer and able to make disciples
  • Operate under the power of the Holy Spirit            
  • Comfortable with working within a Free Methodist Church

As a church restart, we are able to commit to a part time position stipend at $400 per month with the possibility of housing being provided as well.  This position could become full-time in the future depending on the success of the ministry. The successful candidate (and/or spouse) will work at least part-time in the community to supplement the stipend.
