Everything you need can be found in Janesville with a recovering economy and a quality way of life.

Compass is a progressive and growing community. Nine years ago, the church built a beautiful 22,000 square foot building on 10.5 acres on the rapidly growing north east side of Janesville.  Plenty of classroom space, gymnasium, coffee shop and more make ministry accessible to the community.  You will join a dynamic pastor in a grace-filled environment. We are a Kingdom minded church that firmly believes in the transforming power of the Gospel.  The church is currently in a rebuilding phase and are actively reaching out.  Our Vision is: Showing All of Janesville the Way Back to God.

We are seeking a person (or couple) of high character and integrity who can thrive in a busy church! This individual (or couple), will oversee all of our ministry to Birth thru 5th grade, as well as ministry to the Children’s and Nursery volunteers and families as it relates to their children. The job description could vary, depending on the church’s need and the applicant’s gifts.

We are looking for someone who can build our children’s ministry by reaching out to the young families who attend our church and to the visitors. This person would be able to handle planning, coordinating, and leading a children’s service each weekend as well as overseeing and participating in our midweek children’s programs. The qualified candidate would be responsible for two children’s productions per year (Christmas and end of school year) and a one week VBS. Training, organizing and scheduling of nursery and children’s staff would be a must.  Keeping track of safety protocols and background checks would also be required.

Some general characteristics of the successful candidate would be:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in a related field or proven experience in ministry
  • A personal vibrant and growing commitment to Jesus with a heart of Christ-like servant leadership
  • Ability to listen to as well as communicate with the leadership team and board; teachable and emotionally intelligent

  • Be available, know how to have fun, know when enough is enough
  • Be an extroverted person who is willing to engage with kids where they are spiritually and personally
  • Have diplomatic, productive and positive people skills; and the ability to handle conflict constructively and graciously
  • Capable of teaching the Bible in creative, compelling and engaging ways using a variety of teaching methods
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment and can communicate and invest in leaders to empower them to do the ministry
  • Understand and utilize social media to communicate and build the children’s ministry
  • High energy and excellence in all you do; extremely self-motivated and a hard worker.
  • Must be able to transform big ideas into a realistic ministry
  • Must be tech-savvy and able to fully integrate video, audio, puppets, crafts, games, etc into lessons
  • Must be a people-gatherer and possess the gift of evangelism and discipleship
  • Do the work of the ministry under the power of the Holy Spirit

As a church restart, we are able to commit to a part time position stipend at $400 per month with the possibility of housing being provided as well.  This position could become full time in the future, depending on the success of the ministry. The successful candidate (and/or spouse) will work at least part-time in the community to supplement the stipend.
