Antioch Missionary Baptist Church is a multi-generational church in Ona,  West Virginia.  The average Sunday morning attendance is 275 to 300 people. AMBC has chosen to use the King James Version of the Bible in all preaching and teaching environments and settings.  AMBC has both a traditional choir and a praise band. At AMBC, the two full time pastors rely heavily upon volunteers to lead most ministries.


Description:  The Senior Pastor has the primary responsibility for preaching and teaching the Word of God.  He is also responsible for discipling and equipping members for ministry.  This is a demanding, full time position.


  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ
  • Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle 
  • Models the Biblical leadership qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3:17 and Titus 1:5-9
  • Agreement with the doctrinal statement of AMBC
  • Demonstrated skill in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships
  • History of faithful ministry experience along with a minimum of a Master of Divinity Degree or equivalent 


  • Worship
  • Preach the Word of God regularly, including but not limited to Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening
  • Oversee worship services
  • Administer ordinances of the church (Communion and Baptism)
  • Freely share the gospel with unbelievers and provide opportunities for them to accept Christ as their Savior, and train others to do the same
  • Be devoted to personal Bible study, prayer and preparation
  • Leadership
  • Provide general oversight regarding leadership for volunteers
  • In conjunction with the deacons and other staff, develop, coordinate, and implement the church’s vision
  • Work with volunteer leadership to develop evangelistic outreach and service opportunities
  • Model servant leadership
  • Shepherding
  • Oversee the spiritual needs of the congregation
  • Meet the needs of the congregation and prospective members through, but not limited to, visitation in homes, hospitals, nursing care facilities, etcetera
  • Perform weddings and funerals for members and their families as needed
  • Appropriately and expediently respond to crisis situations which arise in the congregation
  • Be devoted in prayer for the congregation
  • Administration
  • Oversee the activities of associate pastors, interns, and other paid staff and volunteers
  • Coordinate with volunteer ministry leaders
  • Moderate church business meetings
  • Along with other paid staff, manage day to day administration of church office


  • The Senior Pastor is accountable, first and foremost, to God and His Word, and secondly to the membership of AMBC
  • He will work together in one accord with the Deacon Board
