Grace is a historic, 150-year old church that has a rich history and is deeply respected throughout Central Illinois. Today, Grace Presbyterian Church continues to reach out to the Peoria area and the world with the good news of Jesus Christ with an average Sunday morning attendance of 1,300. The church consists of a vibrant staff as well as a Session and Diaconate who faithfully serve the church.

Grace Presbyterian Church has been a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) since 1982, and is in the Presbytery of Northern Illinois (regional subdivision).

About the Position:

The purpose of the Executive Director is to provide overall leadership consistent with the doctrinal standards of the PCA and with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Grace Presbyterian Church to all internal staff and operations of the church. This position will align resources and sets priorities to achieve the Mission and key objectives of Grace, as set forth by the Session, while implementing structure, systems, reporting and processes in place to ensure the smooth daily operations of the church and enhance its grace-based culture. 


What We Are Searching For/Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required; Masters Degree preferred.

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Executive Director:

  • 10+ years proven experience in general management, including people management
  • Department Head experience (at minimum) strongly preferred
  • Good understanding of finance, accounting, HR and legal matters that pertain to church governance and administration
  • Possesses extremely strong relational and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically
  • An understanding of budget, financial, and fiscal management as well as human resource management
  • Ability to work on a team towards specific goals in a mutually edifying and supportive manner
  • Demonstrated history of strong, positive interpersonal and communication skills, including positive experience in conflict resolution

About the Location:

The Steamboat Classic, held every summer, is the world's largest four-mile running race and draws international runners.
