     Here at University City UMC, we are seeking a part time accountant who will support our church and provide accounting services including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank and credit card reconciliations, financial reporting, and record filing. 

     We are looking for an individual who has worked in a church accounting role for several years and is proficient in ACS, QuickBooks, Excel, and Word.  Our ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic with a servant’s heart combined with great attention to detail.  As this position deals with church members, staff, vendors, and other ministries, discretion must be maintained at all times.

     This part time position is 20hrs per week.  Preferred work hours are Monday – Thursday from 9am – 2pm with some flexibility.

Job Description

Position Title:  Accountant: Part Time

Hours, Wage, and Schedule:

20hrs per week, $25 per hour

Mon – Thurs (9am – 2pm) some flexibility with schedule

Purpose of the Position:

To process and maintain accurate financial records and provide detailed reports

to support church staff and leaders in fulfilling the vision of UCUMC to make disciples.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable:

-          Record all contributions from weekly services

-          Enter all contributions into ACS and Quickbooks

Accounts Payable:

-          Pay all approved bills of the church in a timely manner

-          Maintain relationships with vendors and resolve disputes or questions

-          Record credit card transactions into Quickbooks

Payroll:

-          Bi-Weekly Payroll processing.

-          Make required payroll tax deposits

-          Create quarterly and year end payroll reports and file them

Reporting and Reconciliation:

-          Reconcile Bank & Credit Card Accounts.

-          Prepare monthly financial reports and ad-hoc reports as requested.

-          File and maintain organized accounting records.

Key Skills Required

-          3 years experience in accounting inside a church

-          Solid understanding of creating financial statements, general ledger coding, journal entries and bank

           reconciliations.

-          Knowledge of and experience in processing accounts receivable and accounts payable.

-          Organized in thought and with work habits, while working with members, staff, vendors, governmental

           agencies and church officers.

-          Confidentiality and discretion concerning information related to the Church and its members.

-          Proficient in Quickbooks, ACS, Excel, and Word.

-          Executive Director and Senior Pastor
