STUDENT MINISTRIES PASTOR
 

Qualifications

 

    Character

  • One who exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God
  • A spiritual life congruent with the Biblical mandate for leaders
  • A teachable, humble spirit
  • A healthy family life that exhibits servant leadership and mutual submission
     Chemistry
  • Must be in agreement with Grace’s statement of faith and in support of our Vision and Values
  • Possesses relational skills to be able to connect and relate well with students, parents, staff and church members
  • One who works well in a collaborative team environment
     Competency
  • Possesses some formal schooling (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred) in a field related to student ministry
  • Has experience in leadership of a student ministry
  • Administrative and organizational skills
  • A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry
  • Experience with developing both adult and student leaders
  • Capable of creating and executing a long-term vision for Grace’s student ministry that is in line with Grace’s overall vision and values
  • Capable of engaging the students through Biblical teaching in ways that are relevant and applicable to their life situations and struggles
     
   Youth Ministry Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing fellowship, worship, Biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism.
  2. Lead and organize ministry and mission opportunities for both Middle School and High School students
  3. Recruit, train and shepherd volunteer youth staff with diverse gifts and personalities
  4. Provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis
  5. Be involved in the students lives by regularly attending their sporting events, choir or band concerts, or any other extra-curricular activities
  6. Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement
  7. Support parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles, in cooperation with other pastoral staff
  8. Develop, and oversee the annual youth ministry budget; also manage student fees for events and trips in a timely fashion  
  9. Organize fundraising and work projects for the students and assist them in these endeavors
  10. Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries
  11. Develop a strategy and process with children’s ministry director and discipleship pastor to help transition students from one age group into the next (i.e - children’s church into Junior High, Junior High into Senior High, Senior High into College/small group ministry)


 

Staff Duties

  1. Attend Staff meetings
  2. Willing to pursue personal spiritual study and growth on a regular basis
  3. Participate as needed or requested in the evaluation and development of the overall church ministry.
  4. Serve in submission and respect to the leadership of Grace
  5. Regularly attend worship services at Grace on Sunday mornings

 

Work Environment/Physical Demands

 

Work environment in general will include routinely working with and around youth on the church campus and in the community as required for the program. There will be some office environment activities to include operation of standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, etc. Some travel, including out of state and perhaps out of country from time to time may be required.
