Canby Foursquare is a vibrant faith community located in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. The Business Administrator keeps the church legal and safe by ensuring the effective and ever-improving financial, facility and HR capacities of the church. This position participates collaboratively and professionally with other staff to promote the general well-being of the department and Canby Foursquare Church. This position is expected to contribute to the unity of the staff through fellowship, encouragement, cooperation, prayer support and other appropriate ways as he or she serves Jesus and this church family.



  • Oversees the bookkeeper in maintaining a full accounting system
  • Provides monthly and annual financial reports to all appropriate users, especially the church council
  • Leads annual budget process and monitors actual vs. budget results throughout the year
  • Coordinates all activities to complete the annual audit or review each year
  • Maintains relationships with key banks
  • Ensures a proper control environment including developing and documenting all policies and procedures
  • Develops and maintains a process for archiving financial records
  • Oversees benevolence policies and distributions

Human Resources

  • Develops and maintains employee policies and procedures that encourage and motivate staff 
  • Coordinates recruitment, offers, onboarding and all related documentation
  • Maintains benefits, including insurance and retirement benefits
  • Oversees processing and delivery of payroll
  • Conducts annual performance reviews and completes proper documentation for support staff of the church.  Implements disciplinary procedures and performance improvement plans when necessary
  • Ensures effective use of church database system
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local labor laws



  • Oversees the work of the Facilities and IT Manager
  • Works in conjunction with the Facilities and IT Manager, and church council, on long range planning for facilities upkeep and occasional project management
  • Ensures maintenance of technology infrastructure

Supervisory Responsibility: This position supervises and works closely with the bookkeeper, executive assistant, office manager, and facilities manager.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Five years of high-level ministry leadership experience, specifically in administration
  • Supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Passion for serving the church
