Serving Status: Salary:  Full-time (45-50 hrs. /wk.)
Department Supervisor:   Spiritual Development (AWAKEN) Dept. Pastor
Department Team:  Student Min. Admin., Student Min. Program Coordinator, Awaken pastors and staff

Position Summary: 

You’re a Student Heart Medic.

You have a heart for students, a passion for the lost and broken, and are committed to providing shepherding and spiritual guidance to as many as you can.

You’re the primary vision caster and leader of Student Ministries.


Chief Strategist & Implementer.

You’re responsible for developing a clear vision and goal-driven strategy for Middle School and High School ministries that aligns with the overall vision and mission of the church.


Leader Maker. 

You’re a leader of leaders who equips and mobilizes volunteer teams to make the ministry happen effectively.


Typical Duties:

Team Building

  • Recruit, equip and invest in a team of adult volunteers as you minister to students together.
  • Supervise student ministry staff and develop each person to maximize his/her gifts and abilities.
  • Identify, equip and mobilize student leaders to effectively lead their peers.


Strategic Planning

  • Develop and carry out a solid discipleship strategy for students that includes curriculum  development (or selection) and teaching team coordination.
  • Develop and carry out a parent communication strategy that includes plans for equipping parents to be the primary disciplers of their students.
  • Develop and carry out a serving strategy for students that include mobilizing students for service in the church and community as well as mission trips.
  • Lead the Student Ministry team in the annual ministry planning process, which includes plotting out priorities for the church year, establishing rhythms for programming, and formulating a budget. 


  • Work with the Program Coordinator in the direction and delivery of all middle school and high school ministry programming (middle school – Sunday mornings, high school – Sunday evenings)
  • Identify and lead key outreach events geared toward students.
  • Work with KCC Graphics Department to effectively promote involvement in Student Ministries inside and outside the walls of the church.


  • Coordinate community partnerships that promote building relationships with students at schools and in the community, providing pastoral support and guidance, and mobilizing other adults to reach outside the current pool of students.
  • Counsel students; providing pastoral support to them and their families.
  • Create a “family culture” within the Student Ministries adult leadership teams, not only doing ministry together but also doing life together.
  • Perform any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Spiritual Development (AWAKEN) Pastor

Personal Qualifications

  • Confesses to be a born again Christian and seek the will of God in his/her life.
  • Maintains a vital and growing walk with the Lord through committed personal Bible study, prayer and stewardship of the resources given to them by God.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and non-verbal formats, with people of varied ages and temperaments – including volunteers, staff, etc.
  • Able to prioritize and focus on key objectives and multitask.
  • Demonstrates a servant’s heart as a member of the KCC team.
  • Self-starter needing minimal supervision.
  • Understands the importance of an accountability relationship and submits willingly.
  • Models the KCC mission, vision and core values.
  • Maintains proper priorities and balances in his/her life.
  • Commits to personal evangelism opportunities within and outside of the church.
  • Becomes an active member of KCC within 6 months of employment.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry Leadership or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading Student Ministry in a church size of 500 or more.
  • Spiritual Gifts – leadership, teaching, shepherding
