Job Description for Worship Minister– Part-time                  Jul 2, 2017

The Worship Minister at CCC, in conjunction with the Pastor, will coordinate and plan our worship service. CCC currently has a blended service but wants to move toward a more contemporary service.  We seek to have a service of worship that maintain a variety of elements and styles that focuses on giving glory to God and inspiring our church community to full participation in the mission of God.

CCC Resources: CCC has a new contemporary sanctuary with state of the art sound and video equipment.


Spiritual Qualifications:

1. Demonstrate a passion for Christ and his Kingdom through personal spiritual growth, discipline, and public ministry.

2.  Leads with heart-felt authenticity.

3. Understand, enable and provide for a community of believers from various denominations (backgrounds or paths of life)

4. Demonstrates good interpersonal skills with a variety of people.

Professional Qualifications     

1. Experience: At least 2year or equivalent of leading a congregation in public worship and demonstrating excellent communication skills with a commitment of seeking to develop those skills in that area, through further training.

2. Musical skills: Ability to lead worship, show proficiency playing a musical instrument, performing, training, and directing.

3. Technology Skills: Ability to direct and to integrate technology into worship and music ministry

4. Education: At least 1 year of biblical & ministry education at the collegiate level preferred, though not absolutely necessary.

General Duties

1. Work with the Pastor to choose songs and to create a weekly well-planned, spirit filled, Christ honoring, and prayerful worship service.  The WL is supervised by and reports directly to the Pastor. 

2. To oversee and coordinate all musical aspects of the worship service.

A. Lead praise band, singers, technology team, and congregation at weekly worship service.

B. Lead weekly rehearsals including vocalists, instrumentalists, pianist, and technology team.

C. To provide and coordinate music binders for the Worship teams.  

D. Recruit and develop new vocalists, technology team members, and instrumentalists as needed.

E. Identify and arrange repairs and purchase of new Instruments and equipment as approved by the Facilities Management Committee.

3. Oversee and coordinate all technology aspects of the worship service.

a. Coordinate visual media (slides) with service requirements

b.  Coordinate sound equipment output as necessary to assure congregation can hear praise team, speakers, and pastor

c.  Coordinate lighting requirements

d. Assure the proper working of the technology equipment,

4. With the Pastor, recruit, coordinate, and train worship lay leaders.

5. Additional duties as assigned.

Other Duties/Information

1. The Worship Leader position falls under the responsibility of the Worship Ministry, thus we require that the WL participate in all ministry meetings.

2. The Pastor will give the WL an annual evaluation, the results of which will be submitted to the Worship Ministry and Personnel for salary recommendations.

3. Arranging for Substitutes:

a.  Number of Sundays Vacation: The WL is given 2 Sundays off per year with at least two weeks’ notice, in which they need not attend worship. On these Sundays the WL is asked to schedule a substitute, and provide them with worship plans. If any emergency arises requiring time off, please inform either the Pastor or, if he is not available, the Worship Ministry Chairperson.

b. Other Unpaid Sundays Off: Any additional Sundays off must be agreed upon between the WL and the Worship Ministry, and they will be unpaid.

4. Issues or concerns that the WL may have should be addressed to the Pastor and/or the Worship Ministry Chairperson for reconciliation.

5. It is possible that this position may change or evolve as time moves on. The Worship Ministry asks for cooperation as we strive to make our worship services more meaningful and inclusive of all congregants.  Additional training for the WL is encouraged.

6. Hours: We expect this position to be a 20 hour/week commitment. The WL is asked to track hours work and submit reports to the Finance weekly.

7. Compensation: The annual compensation is TBD, based on hourly work.   

8. Resignations - As much lead time as possible;  two weeks minimum is expected.                                               

9. There is a 90 day probationary period after which the Pastor will make recommendation for or against retention.  Personnel and the Worship Committee will receive the Pastor's recommendation and take appropriate action. 

10. Terminations - Any termination action will be taken by Personnel.  Personnel will include Worship ministry, and the Pastor in all considerations.
