Young Adults and Campus Pastor


General Description:  
The Young Adults and Campus Pastor has primary responsibility for the spiritual growth and ministry oversight of Olivet’s college age students with an emphasis on equipping committed students and engaging unreached students and providing a consistent and engaging pastoral presence at Olivet’s Marquette Campus.

 

Expectations: 
He will be a true believer in Jesus Christ who demonstrates personal growth in his spiritual life and devotion to his family.  His function within the life of the church is to be consistent with Ephesians 4:12-13… “to equip God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”.

 

Accountability: 
He will report directly to the Lead Pastor. He will attend weekly staff meetings and monthly Elder meetings.

 

Responsibilities:


College Ministry – 60% of focus/time/energy (System Builder)
-Provide spiritual and relational growth opportunities for college age and young adults from both Olivet campuses.
-Complement and coordinate with Pastor of Discipleship and Family Ministries on strategies and events.
-Investigate and implement specific strategies for reaching and involving the students of Baker College and Muskegon Community College.

 

Leadership – 20% of focus/time/energy (A Developer of Leaders)
-Seek and invite others to participate “hands on” in the ministries under his supervision and prepare them to become ministry leaders and disciple makers themselves.

 

Pastoral – 20% of focus/time/energy
-Serve in a “Pastoral role”: Stage presence, limited counseling, public prayer, visitation, visitor follow-up and other pastoral functions as requested.
-Provide a consistent, welcoming pastoral presence at the Marquette Campus.
-Work with Campus secretary to improve the ministries beginning and developing there.
-Preach periodically.
-Other duties as assigned.

 

Compensation:
This will be a part-time pastoral role (25-30 hours) with salary.
