Job Description:

Baseline Community Church is now hiring a Full-time (30-40 hours per week) Student Ministries Director who oversees the program available for 6th through 12th grade. Baseline Church is located in the city of Claremont, CA – our mission is to “grow disciples who authentically follow Jesus Christ so that our communities are transformed.” We are a multi-generational church which places a high value on children’s and youth ministries.  


We are looking for someone who shares the same mission and has a passion for developing an atmosphere of spiritual partnership with families looking to support and encourage parents as they help their kids navigate the turbulent, yet exciting adolescent years.  We desire to create opportunities for students to become Christ-followers, learning to live out their faith within community and through a lifestyle of service for our Lord.


Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain a growing relationship with Christ, devoted daily to prayer and the reading of God’s Word.
  • Develop a comprehensive curriculum for student ministry.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement weekly student gatherings (including Sunday School experience for junior high).
  • Develop personal relationships with students outside of weekly gatherings.
  • Plan, coordinate and participate in events and trips throughout the year.
  • Establish a Student Ministry Team of adults for support, guidance and encouragement.


Development of Volunteer Team

  • Recruit, select, train and supervise student ministry interns.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise all student volunteers.
  • Equip and nurture the student ministry team on a regular basis.


Administrative Office/Staff expectations

  • Attend weekly staff meetings and occasional retreats.
  • Keep current with the latest student ministry trends and tools, through ongoing training, reading books and magazines and contact with other student leaders.
  • Develop relationships with students and parents through personal contact and involvement in their lives.
  • Communicate upcoming events and information to the student and parents through the BCC newsletter, bulletins, Facebook, student newsletters, and other means through social media.
  • Participate in the life of BCC beyond student ministry, including participating in a small group/Bible study.
  • Give assistance as needed in the overall ministry of BCC.
  • Participate in other pastoral duties including attendance at weekend services and mid-week events, baptisms, baby dedications, and seasonal programs.
  • Give assistance as needed in the overall ministry of Baseline.
  • Meet weekly with your ministry supervisor for accountability and encouragement


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students is essential
  • 3+ years prior experience working with a Student Ministry
  • Strong administrative skills 
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Previous financial/budget experience required
  • Ability to foresee and address needs for the local adolescent culture.
  • Sunday morning hours and several evening programs each week.
  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred; seminary education is also preferred
