Position:  Pastor of Student Ministries

Worship Style – Contemporary/Two Sunday morning services

Denomination – Reformed Church in America (RCA)

Church size – 800

Check out this video from Sr. Pastor, John Hill about this incredible opportunity:

First Church was founded by several Dutch immigrants in 1893. Through the years, it has experienced many different periods of growth and decline.  Today, First Church is in an exciting season of explosive growth under the leadership of Senior Pastor John Hill.

Since his arrival at Fist Church a couple of years ago, the church has grown from an average weekend attendance of around 200 to now more than 800! This remarkable increase is nothing short of miraculous and has completely changed First Church’s culture and ethos. They are now a multi-generational church with a healthy mix of baby boomers, Xers, and Millennials. What’s most compelling about their growth is the fact that nearly 75% of those now attending have come to faith in Christ at First Church within the past five years. Leadership is quick to give God the glory for all He has done at First Church over this time.

The leadership staff at First Church is very aware of the need for a new infusion of spiritual passion and leadership for student ministries. The core team of adults, both staff and volunteer, represent every generation and recognize their calling to move forward into God’s preferred future for this vital ministry.

This is an opportunity to be a part of an exciting journey in a growing church, focused on reaching people where they are in an effort to see them become transformed by the gospel. They are poised and eager for God to provide just the right person to lead their student ministry strategy and together, believe that the time is now!

This new Pastor of Student Ministries will play a significant role in bringing focus, strategy, and overall leadership to student ministry at First Church. The filling of this role will also continue to signal to parents and the community First Church’s commitment to the spiritual development of the next generation.  They are above all, seeking someone who will initiate a movement to see young people come into a life-transforming encounter with Jesus (salvation), take next steps to go public with their faith (water-baptism), get connected in community with other believers their age (small groups), and engage in the mission of Jesus to reach the world (mission).

First Church deserves a passionate, deeply devoted follower of Jesus with a clear call to ministry—someone who loves students and families and can pastor them with confidence, competency, and humility. They are prayerfully seeking someone who will jump in as a team player, fully embracing the rewarding work of leading a generation to Christ. Because God is doing great things at First Church, this new Youth Director will play a vital role in helping shape the strategy and vision for student ministry to reach teenagers in the community. First Church is fertile ground for a spiritually mature, highly motivated student ministry leader who loves to work with high capacity people in a community with few limitations. The competent staff is eager for someone who will work hard to execute effective ministry to the next generation. This is a great time to become part of God’s story at First Church!
