DIRECTOR OF FINANCE & ACCOUNTING

Exempt, Full-Time, 45+ hours/week

The role of Director of Finance & Accounting is for strong leaders with the ability to organize and lead the financial and accounting functions of our Church. You hold the primary role of ensuring that the financial area is efficient and effective in helping us fulfill our mission.

You will be:

  • Providing the day-to-day hands on leadership and management over all financial accounting and reporting
  • Coaching, training, and directing the accounting team to best utilize the staff and volunteer resources available
  • Ensuring the integrity of financial matters so that policies and procedures are compliant with accepted accounting principles and related oversight
  • Working with church leaders as you direct the annual budget and audit processes


 

Education and Experience Requirements include:

The Director of Finance & Accounting will be a seasoned and mature leader with at least 10 years of broad finance experience including all or most of the following:

  • A minimum of a BS in accounting; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • At least five years of financial and accounting management experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, and controls.
  • Demonstrated abilities in examining, developing, reengineering, and recommending financial and accounting systems policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills.
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting, chart of accounts design, financial report design, sales tax, and payroll compliance.
  • Experience and success in developing team members.
  • Experience and knowledge of the unique accounting and reporting in a non-profit organization preferred
  • Experience with and high level functioning in accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and computerized financial accounting systems (Shelby a plus).
  • Knowledge and understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
