About the Organization:

Church of the King was born in the hearts of Pastor Steve and Jennifer Robinson in 1999 and launched in September of that same year. Church of the King exists to reach people and build lives and is one church with multiple locations with plans for more in the near future.

As a Non-denominational, spirit-filled church, our desire is for people to experience the fullness of life attached to having a life-giving relationship with Jesus Christ and others in the Body of Christ. We believe life change best happens through biblical teaching in our Weekend Services, doing life together in Small Groups, growing through the Growth Track classes, and Serving others.

About the Position:

The Student Ministries Associate Pastor at our South Shore (New Orleans) Campus reports to the South Shore Campus Pastor and collaborates with the Student Ministries Central Support Pastor to create a fun and engaging environment for students to connect and grow in their relationship with Jesus. As the primary Student Ministry leader and communicator for the South Shore Campus, the Student Ministry Pastor is responsible for the care and coaching of junior high, high school, and C20 college-age students, as well as Student Ministry Dream Team Volunteers. The Student Ministries Associate Pastor will be part of the overall pastoral team at Church of the King and will adhere to all standards and responsibilities the team upholds together.

The South Shore Campus Student Ministry currently consists of about 100 students: 30 middle schoolers and 70 high schoolers. The current programming structure of the South Shore Campus student ministry allows the Student Ministries Associate Pastor to lead Wednesday nights, which includes social connectivity, announcements, followed by worship, teaching, and small group time.  In addition to ministering to teenagers, the Student Ministries Associate Pastor at the South Shore Campus will begin and lead a C20 college-age service on Sunday nights.  Currently, the South Shore Campus has an informal community of college age students and young adults that do ministry together and serve at Limitless.  This position will ultimately assist in the responsibility of vision casting and execution of Student Ministry at the South Shore Campus, with a focus of raising up student leaders to become fervent disciples of Christ.

Pastoral Mission Statement: To provide leadership as an Associate Pastor, grounded in the authority and power of the Scriptures, and revealed under the power of God the Holy Spirit, that meets the spiritual needs of the staff and the church body through sound biblical teaching, encouragement, mentoring, discipline, nurturing, and protecting in accordance with the church’s core values.

The ideal candidate for this role would possess our core values and would be a visionary leader, equipper of volunteers, who will love and embrace creativity, imagination, and ingenuity, while possessing the vital traits of versatility and adaptability.

We firmly believe and expect that those called to New Orleans will “get” Southern Louisiana culture and communicate in a way that makes sense to students living in the ethnically, socio-economically diverse urban core of the city. (Luke 14:23 CEB)

About the Location:

Church of the King’s central offices are located in Mandeville, Louisiana, across Lake Pontchartrain from the city of New Orleans and currently has three campuses Little Creek Campus (Mandeville, LA), South Shore Campus (New Orleans, LA), and Gulf Coast Campus (Biloxi, MS).  Being in the South; Mandeville, New Orleans, and Biloxi are full of rich history, southern charm, and decadent food.  There is no shortage of things to do and see.

New Orleans, home of our South Shore Campus, is home to a truly unique melting pot of culture, food, and music. Being one of America's most culturally and historically-rich destinations reflecting its French, African, and American cultures, it is hot-spot for tourists wanting to see Mardi Gras, costumed parades, and street bands.

The New Orleans region is known to the local folk as the “South Shore.”  That is why our New Orleans location is currently called the “South Shore Campus.”  Our temporary South Shore Campus location currently hosts three services, continues to grow rapidly, and is actively looking for a permanent location.  Church of the King also recently purchased a historic building on St. Charles Avenue, which will eventually become another permanent location, after renovation.  This landmark property is located at a critical crossroads in the city where wealth and poverty collide.

Ministry Opportunities:

A research study conducted in 2010 revealed a remarkable statistic showing that 44% of the greater New Orleans region claimed no religious affiliation – rocketing up from just 8% in the year 2000. This surprising shift came in the wake of Hurricane Katrina with the influx of new people moving to the city. Long known to be a place of moral decay where “anything goes,” New Orleans is a prime candidate for spiritual transformation.  An opportunity of monumental proportions lies before us.  The stage has been set. The time is now.

At Church of the King we are dedicated to helping care for the whole person – spirit, soul and body.  Wanting to make a lasting impact in the city, we prefer outreach and hands-on community involvement that goes beyond simply  handing out goods or providing a short-term service.  Instead we remain intentional about choosing initiatives that create a lasting impact to the city and it’s people.  Ministry to the under-resourced and underprivileged members of the community and meeting pressing physical needs are our main on-going service initiatives to the community.  These services include free medical, dental, and veterinary services, along with special outreaches conducted to help men and women caught in the web of human trafficking.

We are confident that as we empower and equip people, they will rise out of despair and defeat to live victoriously.  A new generation will arise to lift their families and neighborhoods from poverty to prosperity, from crime to caring, from brokenness to blessing, from sickness to soundness and from fear to freedom.  Our heart is to continuously “Reach People and Build Lives.”
