Job Description:

PURPOSE:

To encourage, empower and equip children of all ages (and their families) to worship, grow and serve as Christ-Followers.

 

POSITION FOCUS:

Children’s Ministry

 

POSITION STATUS:

Full Time

 

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS AND STAFF PARTNERSHIPS:

Supervises (Staff Members):

  • Ministry Assistant
  • Summer or seasonal Interns
  • Early Childhood Coordinator, Elementary Coordinator, and Multisite Children’s Coordinators

 

Supervises (Volunteers and Teams):

  • Various Children’s Ministry Volunteer Teams (i.e. Hospitality Team)
  • Parent Team

 

Partners with:

  • Children’s Ministry Staff
  • Servant Leader Coordinator
  • Student Ministry Director
  • Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Adult Ministries
  • Multisite Campus Pastors

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ministry Overview

  • Create, develop and lead, alongside our professional staff, adult lay leaders, and student leaders, all aspects of our Children’s Ministry (including Multisite campuses).
  • Oversee all summer and special event programming.
  • Provide primary pastoral leadership for children and their families in partnership with the Children’s Ministries staff team to continually shape and develop a biblically centered ministry.
  • Partner with Servant Leader Coordinator to develop and multiply servant leadership within Children’s Ministry
  • Teach the Bible with clarity, creativity, and conviction and children actively engage in their faith journey within their stage of development.
  • Seek to strategically engage parents in the ministry to their children.  Equip parents to take intentional STEPs at home (Christ Church Discipleship Pathway).
  • Recruit, equip, and encourage adult volunteer staff spiritually and socially.
  • Perform ministerial and pastoral responsibilities as well as periodically teach and develop resources for leadership development, small groups, and spiritual growth.

 

Spiritual Development

  • Pursue and model professional, personal, and spiritual development.
  • Exhibit mature Christian character and vision.

 

Administration and Communication

  • Oversee all weekly and seasonal programs for children and staff.
  • Develop, oversee and provide wise stewardship of budget resources.
  • Develop effective methods for communication with parents and lay staff leaders.
  • When possible, attend all necessary meetings including staff connection days/retreats, ministry team meetings and other ministry leadership meetings.
  • Assist in providing resources, documentation and communication for CCOB leadership.
  • Partner with CMO to work within standards set by CCOB Protection Policy.
  • Develop and update annual ministry goals.
  • Partner closely with Student Ministry Director in the strategic development of ministry scope and sequence as well a Faith@Home initiatives.
  • Partner closely with Servant Leader Coordinator in the strategic development of servant leadership in Children’s Ministry.

 

Pastoral

  • Assist in worship services as directed and needed.

 

 

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills and Talents

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-starter needing minimal supervision.
  • Expert in child development and the spiritual formation of children.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in teacher training, team building and parent education.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative and innovative.
  • Possess Media Shout, Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook and other relevant computer skills.

 

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • MA or equivalent Children’s Ministry/Education experience.
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years experience in Children’s Ministry.
  • Significant experience in developing and leading volunteers and teams.
