Job Description:

Renovation Church is an exciting and thriving church in Blaine, MN. Our Children's Ministry has doubled in size over the past 12 months and we are currently in search of a 20 hours per week Children's Pastor to oversee nursery - 5th grade children's ministry during our Sunday morning services.

Key leader for Children’s Ministry

  • Delegate duties and responsibilities and effectively manage organizational structure, making adjustments as needed
  • Provide vision and leadership to improve Children’s ministry and take it to the next level
  • Work with the lead teachers (elementary, nursery/preschool) on a more regular basis in order to hear feedback, work with a leadership team, and refine the ministry.
  • Be the point person for escalated questions, concerns and issues from parents/staff/volunteers
  • Be the key contact for meeting new parents and introducing them to the ministry
  • Support and encourage volunteers on a regular basis
  • Responsible for overseeing, enforcing, and adapting all Children’s Ministries policies (in conjunction with the Director of Ministries or Lead Pastor when necessary
  • Develop resources to effectively encourage parents to disciple their children at home (e.g. social media platforms, etc.)

Report directly to the Director of Ministries

  • Meet once every three weeks with the Director of Ministries to report strengths and weaknesses of the ministry, to be held accountable for job responsibilities, and also to better develop personal leadership.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings

Train Volunteers

  • Train and assimilate new volunteers
  • Lead yearly training at volunteer summit for returning volunteers
  • Other ongoing training as needed
  • Oversee/delegate weekly Momentum Meetings for Children’s Ministry
  • Scheduling
  • Create the schedule for all volunteers every two months (nursery, pre-k, elementary, check-in, and coordinators)
  • Hold volunteers responsible for using Volunteer Substitute procedure and manage last minute schedule conflicts to ensure fully staffed classrooms each service

Administrative Oversight

  • Prepare curriculum materials
  • Conduct background checks
  • Ensure compliance with Abuse Prevention forms and other insurance/liability information
  • Print, distribute, and gather Child Registration Forms (at check-in station), classroom sign-in sheets (attach to clipboard), and Incident/Accident Report forms
  • Oversee purchasing of supplies, equipment, curriculum, etc.


  • Be the face of Children’s Ministry and effectively recruit new volunteers for the ministry

Children's Pastor role is 20 hours per week.
