Venture Christian Church is a dynamic, fast-growing community in the Silicon Valley, CA, led by pastor, author, and speaker Chip Ingram. Venture exists to be a catalyst to transform the Bay Area from a place of spiritual darkness to a global strategic teaching and discipleship center for the gospel of Jesus Christ by partnering with Living on the Edge and like-minded churches to produce Romans 12 Christians... here, there and everywhere.


SUMMARY OF POSITION: The primary focus of this position is to work with the In Community Team, Outreach Team and other VCC teams to develop a thriving and multiplying microsite ministry throughout the Bay Area. This person will be responsible to create teams of volunteers and mobilize them to missional engagement. This position requires strong leadership, team building/recruiting volunteers, administration, excellent people skills and an ability to cast vision in a fast paced environment. This is a highly innovative and vital role to the implementation of the vision of Venture Christian Church.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Responsible for strategic planning, setting goals and objectives for a comprehensive Microsite Ministry
  • Develop teams to launch microsites throughout the Bay Area
  • Recruit and train people for each role in launching and supporting a microsite
  • Oversee the development and distribution of video resources for microsites
  • Invest in the ongoing discipleship and development of the microsite ministry leaders
  • Collaborate with small group ministries in launching microsites from groups and in launching groups out of microsites
  • Collaborate with the On Mission Team to strategically develop new microsite locations and engage in need-meeting ministry in those locations
  • Collaborate with the Online Church, In Community and Creative Teams in the development of excellent video resources for microsite services and discipleship resources
  • Collaborate with the Innovation and Technology team at Venture CC in development of technology solutions to increase discipleship engagement
  • Network with other churches and ministries throughout the Bay Area to develop the microsite movement
  • Function as a member of the church’s pastoral staff performing baptism services, weddings, funerals, etc. as part of a rotation schedule
  • Assist in the development of an annual budget and manage spending to budget
  • Manage team members by leading in a positive and professional manner by providing spiritual support, leadership, on-going communication regarding performance, organization/church updates and continuous training to improve overall team and individual performance
  • Lead and support overall Church’s policy and procedures to meet employment requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work closely with the In Community pastor, key staff, project managers, and administrative support to accomplish strategic plan
  • Set goals, clear objectives with timelines and metrics that support VCC’s strategic plan
  • Responsible for the development and the stewardship of an annual budget
  • Partner with Communication and Innovation Teams to develop technology, website and branding to support the Microsite Ministry
  • Participates with Minister On-Call/Crisis calls
  • Manage team members by leading in a positive and professional manner by providing spiritual support, leadership, on-going communication regarding performance, organization/church updates and continuous training to improve overall team and individual performance
  • Lead and support overall VCC policies and procedures to meet employment requirements
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports to ensure meeting the accounting staff including establishing staff objectives that align to the church and school overall objectives, goals and policies
  • Oversee daily compliance of department policies and procedures for direct reports including communication to other departments
  • Perform some pastoral functions and other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:   EDUCATION-KNOWLEDGE-SKILLS-EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in biblical studies or related field (Extensive ministry experience, in some cases, can be substituted)
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years experience as a staff member in a ministry leadership capacity
  • Experience in event-planning and leading special events
  • Experience in team-building and leadership
  • Proven technical awareness and ability with a willingness and enthusiasm to learn about new products and technology
  • Proficiency in video production and technology as the primary content delivery for microsites
  • Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistics tools and approaches to work
  • Ability to manage projects/teams and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in conflict resolution using good judgment
  • Ability to recruit, train and develop a strong team and volunteer leaders
  • Natural relationship and team leadership ability
  • Strong written and leadership communication skills
  • Positive, inspiring, team work attitude
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of database and social networking web applications is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk;; and reach with hands and arms. The ability to lift 20 lbs., open filing cabinets and bend or stand or climb on step ladders as necessary.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:  Saturday  - Thursday / 40+ hours per week… expectation of being in the field at microsites on the weekend
