Job Description

The Director of Operations will contribute to the support ministries of Calvary Chapel Church by providing administrative oversight of the financial operations, book store and café, facility and properties management, and support staff.

Job Summary

Plans and directs all aspects of an organization's operational policies, objectives, initiatives. Responsible for the attainment of short and long term financial and operational goals. Directs the development of the organization to ensure future growth. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

 

Accountability

The Director of Operations will be directly accountable to the Lead Pastor.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Strong background in operations, financial management, IT and accounting
  • Strong people skills
  • Smart and strong organizational skills, detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and experience within professional services field
  • Experience with Business and Accounting software
  • Be a servant leader who has a desire to work and cooperate in a team atmosphere.
  • Have a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business administration or have equivalent experience in a multi-staff setting using current technologies. 
  • Experience in a church ministry setting is highly desired.
  • Understand accounting practices and human resource management principals. 
  • Have a strong sense of loyalty to the ministry and people of Calvary Chapel Church
  • Be capable of keeping confidences.
  • Demonstrate strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Be capable of making decisions and holding others accountable.

 

Responsibilities

  • Direct the administrative and operational necessities for Calvary Chapel Church. 
  • Oversee the financial operations of Calvary Chapel Church including developing and maintaining the operating budget and overseeing the bookkeeping staff.
  • Monitor operating budget spending, keeping staff and lay leaders appropriately informed regarding spending per budget items.
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison for the Board of Directors.
  • Work with the Lead Pastor in coordinating and leading weekly staff meetings.
  • Direct the daily administrative operation of the church office by working to develop and maintain an organized, supplied, and healthy work environment for the staff at Calvary Chapel Church.
  • Serve as the human resource director for all employees at Calvary Chapel Church.
  • Maintain the PTO calendar and work with the Lead Pastor in processing PTO requests.
  • Serve as the transportation officer of the church by monitoring insured drivers and managing the vehicle use calendar. 
  • Serve as point person in dealing with office technological needs.
  • Handle all business dealings of the church, including liability, auto, and other insurance, employee benefits, tax or property issues, and other legal issues.
  • Handle all facility and property maintenance
  • Work with contractors, architects, subcontractors, and other vendors in all building construction / remodel projects.
  • Serve as liaison to city, county, or other governmental agencies regarding property issues.
  • Provide leadership over maintenance and janitorial staff and volunteers in order to ensure that the facilities and grounds are maintained in a quality condition through systems of cleaning, maintenance, and improvements. 
  • Act as the point person for all events that require using the Calvary Chapel building including conferences, outside requests, rentals and uses. 
  • Oversee operations and finances of Book Store and Café
