Job Description:

About the Organization:

Hope Church is a growing church that is conservative in its theology and modern in its methodology. It has a Lutheran history and maintains conservative theology although not part of any denomination.

Recognizing a need for a church that reached and engaged unchurched people in the community, Hope was birthed by a small group of individuals in 2002.

Drawn to its vision, Jason Ewart became the Lead Pastor in early 2009. With a weekly attendance of 75, Hope Church began to prioritize its Sunday services, shaping them to be seeker intelligible while building a strong culture centered around small groups. By 2010, a growth trend began, resulting in the implementation of a Sunday morning kids ministry and the search for a larger facility. In 2011, the church relocated its Sunday services to a local middle school cafeteria. After out-growing the cafeteria by 2012, they began to meet in a larger gymnasium with a second service initiated in 2016.

In early 2017, Hope Church formally left membership in their Lutheran denomination, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, and became an independent church. The church has enjoyed remarkably consistent growth since 2009, with a weekend attendance increase of more than 10% each year.

Today, the church averages more than 500 each attendees week, and is poised for continued growth and catalytic success.

About the Position:

The Director of Worship & Programming will essentially engage and lead volunteers to create unforgettable, Christ-centered weekend services. This position is imperative to Hope’s success, as the Sunday service is the front door to the church's ministry and is the first step to engage people with the Gospel. Success in this role will be determined when guests and volunteers are engaged in weekend services with a desire to return the following week with a friend.

The ideal candidate will be an engaging worship leader on-stage and a gifted pastoral leader off-stage, with necessary skills to administer the worship ministry of Hope Church. They will have an outgoing personality, and an authentic approachability that communicates across a multi-generational congregation. Success in this role will be largely evidenced by a developed and growing volunteer team, alongside a congregation that is engaged in worship each weekend.

What We Are Searching for/Qualifications:

A successful candidate for this role will be an experienced musician with the ability to lead vocals from an instrument (preferably guitar). Experience and/or a background in worship ministry leadership is highly desired. Additional skills may include:

  • Strong, motivational leadership.
  • Desire to be a part of the team’s success
  • Desire to serve Christ, the vision of Hope, the Lead Pastor, the volunteers they lead, and the people to whom they minister
  • Excellent relational skills and the ability to lead groups of people towards a common goal.
  • Experience in creating modern, Christ-centered worship environments
  • High musical and vocal proficiency
  • Experience working with production hardware and software

In addition to being fully aligned with the mission, vision and values of Hope, the Director of Worship & Programming should have the following qualities:

  • Strong leadership
  • Engaging stage presence
  • Good vocal quality
  • Proficient guitar (or likewise) playing ability
  • Working knowledge of A/V gear
  • Ability to lead, align and develop volunteers
  • A proven track record of effective leadership, judgment and character
