Job Description:

Crossroads Neighborhood Church is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Worship and High School Pastor. This person will be a lover of God who desires to disciple people, work with teams, and raise up leaders according to a Gospel-centered vision for ministry grounded in God’s Word. (*Note: This position will not be bogged down with double-administrative tasks, as the Middle School director will function as this person’s assistant, providing administrative support for all things related to High School ministry.)

 

Crossroads is in the midst of a significant, and exciting, season of growth and transition. We have been under the leadership of a new lead pastor since January (’17), who is preparing to launch a church-wide discipleship training initiative in the fall, has established a leadership pipeline to equip the congregation for ministry both within and outside the church, and has established a partnership with a coffee shop / youth mentoring ministry that has agreed to put one of their coffee shops in the lobby at Crossroads (Coffee Oasis: thecoffeeoasis.com), also in the fall. We have grown from around 200-300 in weekly attendance since January and are praying that God would send a person called a qualified to help lead our growing church into the future has planned.

 

Qualifications and Position Requirements  

  • Understands the difference between performing songs and leading people into the presence of God in worship; has a personal desire to worship God and a burden/calling to lead others with him into his presence 
  • Understands the Gospel and can communicate it with clarity and conviction; has personally encountered the grace of God in Jesus Christ and desires others to encounter his grace as well 
  • Possesses a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a ministry field (graduate degree preferred)
  • Professional experience in Worship Ministry (3-5 years minimum); preferred experience working with youth as well
  • Work alongside lead pastor for weekly Gospel-centered service planning
  • Help develop a culture of worshiping God ‘in Spirit and in truth’
  • Work alongside lead pastor in thinking through how to best translate the Gospel to culture through our worship service in general, and music/songs in particular (so as to not simply reflect or neglect culture, but to utilize cultural forms in a way that preserves and communicates Gospel content)
  • Lead weekly in the service and at rehearsals (except for allotted days off)
  • Build into current music team both spiritually and musically
  • Help recruit others to the team and tech crew
  • Needs to be tech-competent, including understands and/or can quickly learn how to operate a sound board, all things projector related, PowerPoint and/or Song Select, etc.
  • Help recruit others to the team and tech crew
  • Ensure sound/tech is properly functioning prior to each service (in cooperation with sound/tech crew)
  • Lead weekly in the service and at rehearsals (except for allotted days off)
  • Ensure sound/tech is properly functioning prior to each service (in cooperation with sound/tech crew)
  • Oversight and development of the Worship Ministry budget
  • Oversight of the high school budget, while delegating as necessary to assistant  (Middle School director)

Other Duties as Required:

  • Weekly staff meetings and occasional retreats
  • Regular office hours (TBD based on hours spent working outside of the office for youth gatherings/events)
  • Attend worship services, retreats, and special meetings.
  • Present semi-annual ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the Elder board.
  • Participate in a yearly job performance review.
  • Present a yearly youth budget proposal for Worship Ministry.
  • Commit to continued education, often as a staff but also on own initiative
