Associate Pastor

Overview & Vision:

This is a full-time role to assist the Lead Pastor in providing shepherding, leadership, and strategic planning to the congregation.

General Ministry Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Lead Pastor for the oversight of Worship, Media, Youth, Welcome, and Small Group Teams. This includes recruiting, training, equipping, and discipling paid staff and leadership volunteers.
  • Work with the Lead Pastor to strategize, plan, and implement Sunday services that foster evangelism, discipleship, and spiritual growth.
  • Preach 8-12 Sundays a year.
  • Lead quarterly ministry leadership meetings
  • Actively participate in FORMUS for the discipleship of men in the congregation.
  • Function as a member of the church’s pastoral staff which includes but is not limited to: baptisms, counseling, funerals, preaching, communion, etc.
  • Assist in the development of an annual budget and manage spending to budget.
  • Assess and review all direct reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Spiritually mature as demonstrated through Christ-like love
  • Track record of self-care to maintain a healthy balance between life and ministry
  • Healthy family relationships that support and sustain one’s role in ministry
  • Strong understanding of and ability to communicate God’s Word
  • Self-Starter
  • Self-Motivated
  • Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers
  • Experience in mentoring and relational discipleship
  • Able to work in a team environment by contributing thoughts, ideas, and opinion yet also willing to follow leadership once decisions have been made

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Theology Preferred
  • Five years of ministry experience
  • Tech savvy and computer literate
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a multi-ethnic church environment

At this time, we are only considering individuals that are currently residing in the Bay Area or are already making plans to move to the Bay Area.


Information on compensation will be discussed early in the application process. We believe in investing in our staff. We also recognize this is one of the most expensive places in the country to live. With that in mind we have set compensation for this position to meet the needs of a single person or a dual-income family. Compensation will include a base salary (wages and housing allowance) plus 403B contribution.
