Job Description:

The Assistant Pastor (High School) is responsible for all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of high school students. This includes leadership of weekly programs and periodic special events (camps, conferences, trips, service projects, etc.). The incumbent also performs baptisms, weddings and funerals as needed. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. With minimum supervision, leads a team of paid staff and volunteers in the creation and operation of the high school ministry, including weekly services and routine special events. (app 90%)
  • Plans and executes biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and high energy services for high school students.
  • Creates and manages the high school ministry calendar that will drive all the activities and teaching of the ministry.
  • Directs the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers as needed to staff weekly programs and special events.
  • Leads the creative use and proactive upkeep of ministry facilities.
  1. Other Key Duties (app 10%)
  • Casts vision for, teach, and program the church’s annual camp for high school students including music selection, development of messages/teaching, and utilization of games and other artistic elements.
  • Designs, plans, and conducts periodic high school parent meetings in order to meet the needs and expectations of families attending the church.
  • Assists in the development of an annual budget for the high school ministry and manages spending to budget.

These duties are subject to change as church needs and strategies evolve. Employee may be required to perform other duties.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies or related field is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of audio/video technology is essential

 

EXPERIENCE

 

  • Must be licensed as a minister of the gospel.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience as a leader, staff and/or volunteer in student ministry.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

 

  • Communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • A passion for teaching young students about God.
  • A working knowledge of creative programming related to student programs and special events.
  • Flexibility in the ability to work around the hours when ministry occurs.
