Job Description:

North Coast Family Fellowship (NCFF) is a great church located in the coastal city of Seaside on the beautiful north shore of Oregon.  Over the last 20+ years, God has blessed this congregation with significant spiritual influence locally despite the area being one of the most unchurched places in America.  The surrounding county has both a high awareness of NCFF’s presence and a positive perspective on the contributions of NCFF to community life.  The church has many wonderful people who have a sincere desire to come under the teaching of God’s Word, love one another and reach the area with the Gospel.  The heart of this church family is to be used of God to spiritually transform people’s lives both for time and eternity as we seek to loingly help people everywhere become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.  There is a tangible & humble sense within the church family that the Lord has His hands upon NCFF to be used mightily by His grace & for His glory.

NCFF is excited to be entering into a season of renewal, rebuilding and reset.  From a “big picture” perspective, key areas of focus include …

(1) building a strong ministry of Biblically based teaching yielding transformative life application;

(2) building a strong staff team that is empowered by prayer, educationally prepared and tempered by experience to lead healthy discipleship ministries;

(3) building a relationally based, supportive culture that will bond the current congregation closer together in love and draw the community to follow Jesus;

(4) building the internal operating systems necessary to any church functioning effectively as a well-organized and smooth running ministry;

(5) building lay leadership training;

(6) building & equipping the saints for the work of ministry within the body, the community and the world.

Recently, NCFF hired an experienced lead pastor with a history of helping churches strengthen continuity in the present while positioning for a significant ministry in the future. An important step forward is the hiring of a full-time associate pastor with a definite calling to pastoral ministry; the strong support of his family; appropriate educational training (either completed or in process); positive experience in ministry and an anticipation of service as a lead pastor in his future career.

- Christ-like character, humble confidence and pastoral maturity.  Our desire is for the associate pastor to be able to influence others toward godliness utilizing strong relational connectedness, team building skills, leadership and effective communication of God’s Word.

- Full family support of the associate pastor’s call to ministry and a shared love for the Church, the Bride of Christ, as evidenced by family involvement in & visible commitment to the ministry vision of NCFF.

- Appropriate educational training.  A minimum of a ministry degree from an accredited Christian college that is both evangelical and theologically in harmony with NCFF’s doctrinal beliefs.  A master’s level degree in ministry would be excellent, but at the same time, we would be excited to work with an individual who is working toward a M.A., M.Div. or Th.M. degree in ministry.  The church is located within commuting distance of a number of excellent seminaries. Working full-time at NCFF while pursuing course work part-time is very doable.

- Positive ministry experience.  NCFF is looking for an associate pastor who is naturally gifted and spiritually gifted having successfully demonstrated this gifting in previous ministry settings.

- Ability to help foster a staff team environment and enhance team cohesiveness and productivity.  This individual should be a self-starter and able to both receive direction and lead in providing competent direction to others.

- Strong computer capability coupled with demonstrable strength in verbal & written communication.

- A work ethic of excellence (not perfectionism) coupled with a commitment to giving the time that ministry requires to be done well.  Possessing a solid ability to keep an overall balance in life so that ministry does not become all consuming or detrimental to personal or family health.  Work hard … play hard … pray hardest … laugh a lot … enjoy ministry & life … personally & professionally balanced.

1. The associate pastor will serve at the direction of the lead pastor and will partner with the pastoral staff in creating and implementing this exciting new chapter in the life of NCFF.  It is the intention of the lead pastor to help mentor and develop this individual for future service as a lead pastor either here at NCFF or in another church ministry.

2. Focus on the development and growth of ministry to adults in the age group ranging from mid-twenties to mid-forties.  Specifically, spiritually mentoring families with children and increasing their presence, service and influence in the church.

3. Oversee and enhance children’s ministry with the help of a part-time assistant.

4. Develop and oversee an effective small group ministry emphasizing relational community, prayer, service and spiritual growth.

5. Communication of Scripture.  This associate pastor will have frequent opportunity to teach God’s Word both in a discipleship training setting and from the pulpit.

6. Bring your special talents and passions “to the table” as part of what God wants to do through you to enhance the life and ministry of NCFF both now and in the future.

1.  Motivators for this ministry are that NCFF would be …

        Gospel centered … that the living Word of God and the living Son of God would be our story.

        Generationally balanced … that each generation would be present at NCFF & bonded together in love.

        Culturally relevant … that locally, regionally & globally NCFF would matter to those who need Jesus.

We believe that North Coast Family Fellowship exists to lovingly help people everywhere become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

2. Compensation:  Church leadership is sensitive to costs associated with adequately supporting a family on the North Coast of Oregon.  NCFF will do our best to offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
