Job Description:

About the Organization:

epikos Church is a thriving community of faith, intentionally pursuing multi-ethnic ministry, gathering in three locations in the Greater Milwaukee area. Originally planted by Danny Parmelee, the church has expanded from a historic church building near college campuses on the East Side of Milwaukee, to a second location in a large restored theatre in West Allis, to a recently launched portable campus now meeting in a school in the predominantly African-American neighborhoods of North Milwaukee. All original campus pastors are still in place and the church has an excellent and deeply connected staff team across our entire church.

Recently, when Lead Pastor Danny Parmelee announced that he was moving to Nashville to accept a church-planting role with Converge Mid-America, the Overseers decided to conduct a nationwide search for a potential successor. We are prayerfully seeking the right leader to help maintain the unique culture of epikos in reaching out to non-believers throughout the city, while navigating the opportunities and challenges ahead in expanding a multisite vision across Milwaukee and beyond.

About the Position:

The Lead Pastor at epikos Church will first and foremost be a highly strategic and gifted leader and communicator who will be responsible for leading the entire congregation to make more and better disciples. Together with the Overseers, this position will lead strategy and vision and will also oversee operational leadership with the Executive Pastor and Campus Pastors. Communicating God’s Word with faithfulness to the text in a compelling and relevant fashion and offering systematic leadership to the staff of the church will be vital to this role. Along with the Overseers, he will strive to champion the mission of epikos Church, while offering a strong foundation of leadership, strategic foresight, and a spiritual perspective to the future of the church. This individual will be skilled in leveraging the influence of the leadership, staff, and volunteer teams, to further the church’s mission.

The prospective candidate will have proven experience, either as a Lead Pastor or an executive level staff member from a larger church. They will ideally have a history of leading healthy teams and growing churches. They will embody excellence and lead with a player-coach mentality. The successful candidate for the position of Lead Pastor will carry a disposition of authenticity, which will be evidenced through their life, leadership and teaching.

What We Are Searching For/Qualifications:
