Description – Summit Community Church, a growing Christian Church in the West Valley, is seeking a proven, enthusiastic leader who passionately follows Jesus Christ as our Worship Arts Director – leading one of our three strategic environments as we seek to fulfill our mission – Reaching the world for Jesus, one life at a time.  This person will partner with our staff and lay leaders to develop, direct and oversee Summit’s Worship. 

 

Mission of Worship Arts Director – To lead the Worship life of Summit Community Church, providing direction and vision for the Worship Arts Department, recruiting teams and developing leaders.  Our Worship Arts Director will work with the Lead Pastor, the Executive Pastor, other staff and lay leaders necessary to execute the church’s vision.  Expanding teams and leadership development are essential as Summit seeks to fulfill its vision for multi-site ministry.

 

Responsibilities  – The Worship Arts Director will be responsible for:

 

                • Weekly music selection

                • Charting, adaptation and teaching of new music to bands and congregation

                • Scheduling, recruiting, and training of Band and Technical Teams for Worship and other events

                • Lead weekly Worship Planning and Evaluation Meeting with Pastors

                • Weekly rehearsal preparation, planning and execution

                • Leading team to set up and tear down auditorium venue weekly

                • Provide training and direction for AVL and Computer Teams

                • Oversee weekly production done by volunteers (bulletins and pro presenter)

                • Lead Worship Planning retreat(s) & Yearly Worship Band retreat to develop skills

                • Collaborate with staff on calendar and event planning

                • Coordinate with graphic designer(s) on graphic needs and sizes

                • Supervise and disciple Worship Arts staff and volunteers (see Direct Reports below)

                • Plan and execute video projects with Video Director and Pastors

                • Source and edit videos for Sunday worship

                • Assist with other projects, ministry events as assigned

 

Qualifications  –

  • Displays a strong, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Is committed to growing in faith and has a passion for ministry.  Is committed to the leadership growth areas articulated in Summit’s How We Lead document.
  • Agrees to support the core beliefs of Summit Community Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
  • Has been part of a larger church; Lutheran, non-denom or other denominational.
  • Models an enthusiastic leadership style that inspires the confidence of others.
  • Has a minimum of 3-5 years of successful leadership experience building teams, planning and implementing great worship.
  • Minimum education includes a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Expertise in vocals and one lead instrument.
  • Is or is willing to become a member of Summit Community Church.

                • Worship Arts Associate (PT staff, currently filled with Summer Intern)

                • Scheduling & Communications Director (PT Staff)

                • Video Ministry Director (PT Volunteer)

 

 

Training/Support  – 

  • One-on-one meetings with and reporting to Executive Pastor
  • Budget allocation for conferences
  • Development at Staff Retreats
