Job Description:

Kensington Church is a (13,000) person, gospel-centered movement at eight locations.  We operate as one-team, one-fight.  We are seeking the right person to be a teaching pastor at our Troy location.  This location has an average weekend attendance of around 4000 people.  Troy Michigan is an ever-increasing diverse community in the suburbs north of Detroit with over 70 languages represented within its borders.



  • Serve as the designated teaching pastor at Kensington’s Troy location. 
  • Communicate with power, clarity and spiritual authority.
  • Cast big-picture vision through teaching and preaching at weekend and mid-week services. 
  • Be part of the campus leadership team to ensure that the mission is accomplished: To see every(one) transformed and mobilized by Jesus
  • Participate in the process of creating message series for weekend services.
  • Champion the value of inspired teaching by training and developing others with the spiritual gift of teaching. 


  • A clear call of God to serve and lead a large kingdom movement. 
  • A good reputation with others and an ability to relate to all types of people. 
  • A commitment to following Jesus Christ with a passion to love God, live in authentic community with those in the body of Christ, and extend the love of God to those seeking Him.
  • A strong commitment to living out Kensington’s values.  
  • A pursuit of humility, energy, passion for Jesus, wisdom, knowledge, authenticity, and spiritual authority.
  • A drive and desire to make great out of good.
  • A proven track record of responding well to critique. 


  1. Education:  Seminary degree preferred.
  2. Experience:  Demonstrated ability to serve, lead, preach/teach with power, clarity and spiritual authority. 
  3. Well-travelled and a love for all people and nations. 
  4. Regular vision casting in a large church setting of 2000 plus. 
  5. Ability to analyze and develop other teachers. 



  1. Teaching and Leadership:  Regularly speak at weekend and midweek services.  Teach as needed at  ministry events, training opportunities, and other events.  Be part of the campus team in vision casting, authentic community, and spiritual development – keeping the mission of Kensington front and center.      
  2. Teaching Team:  Serve as a vital member of the teaching team that works in collaboration on content development for weekend services.    
  3. Emerging Teaching Team:  Help identify those with the gift of leadership      and teaching, and help in their development.  Provide critique and feedback to the      teaching team where needed.  Lead and develop other Kensington staff and attendees who have a teaching gift, connecting them with opportunities to grow.  Research opportunities for teacher training, such as conferences and workshops.
  4. Congregational Care:  Be available to meet with congregation members as needed.  Perform weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other pastoral functions.  Continue to teach and model the “Priesthood of the believer” encouraging people to seek counsel from their small group and close friends.
