Job Description:

Living Hope Christian Church is a thriving church in Williston, Vermont is looking for a Christ-centered, spirit-filled individual who God would call to take our youth and young adults to the next level!  The Pastor of Student Ministries and Young Adults will focus on fostering the spiritual life of the youth and young adults in our church family.

 

The pastor to the youth & young adults will strive to equip young disciples by developing and implementing a 6th-12th youth ministry program while serving as a spiritual leader and role model. Their leadership responsibilities would include helping cast vision and direction, while evaluating and elevating all elements of the two ministries on a continual basis.  A major part of this role will include recruiting, training and encouraging volunteer youth leaders from the young adult ministry and within our congregation.  They will also establish relationships with college aged individuals and young families and establish a rapport through ministry, bible study, events & activities, and worship.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Determine a kingdom vision for the students and young adults of Living Hope Christian Church.
  • Oversee and lead all major aspects of student ministries (Grades 6-12).
  • Oversee and lead all major aspects of the young adult ministry (Ages 18-25).
  • Be accountable to senior pastor.
  • Minister at weekly youth services.
  • Create engaging, age-appropriate Biblical messages that build, train and equip our youth & young adults to become strong and engaged followers of Christ.
  • Create relevant environments, continual activities, and programming for each age group that will facilitate biblical and cultural learning, God honoring relationships, and encourage spiritual growth.
  • Plan and coordinate major events throughout the year including hosting youth and young adult conferences at LHCC.
  • Establish and nurture a wholesome volunteer culture within student ministries.
  • Collaborate with the team of volunteers when creating ideas and strategizing.
  • Reach out to local middle and high schools.
  • Connect with local colleges and universities.
  • Communicate consistently and completely with the volunteer leaders as well as all parents and youth under your leadership.
  • Be a leader of leaders.  Allow, teach, and empower other leaders to lead.
  • Build and maintain relationships with students who are both churched and unchurched.
  • Meet regularly with students outside of the church facility.
  • Look for opportunities to befriend, hangout, and disciple in a relational way with students at church, sporting events, in the community, etc.
  • Build a strategy for reaching and assimilating new students and families that will come to find LHCC as their home.
  • Develop and maintain quality relationships with parents.
  • Create names & logos to coincide with youth & young adults vision.
  • Involve students in the ministry of the church in serving, discipling, and using their gifts.
  • Work with the LHCC Staff team in leading the church as a whole.
  • Be willing to be engaged in other ministry related areas of need as your pastoral gifts are needed.

Requirements/Preferred Skills

  • Must be able to lead, implement vision and be open to change and new ideas.
  • Ability to develop and lead teams of ministry volunteers. Be a leader of leaders, not just a doer.
  • Ability to self-start and stay motivated.
  • Should be musically inclined and capable of helping lead youth worship.
  • Be an engaging communicator of thoughts and ideas.
  • Ability to be a team player and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to function within a team structure and work independently on individual tasks.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to work with other Living Hope staff members to coordinate and execute projects.
  • Willing to foster an environment of creativity and excitement not only within the youth and young adults position, but throughout the church.
  • Promote a positive attitude and working environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of youth ministry experience.
  • Must be educated in the Word and a student of the scripture.
  • Needs to be ready to change a culture.
