Job Description:

We’re looking for a big dreamer and go-getter who has what it takes to navigate Cornerstone through the next step of God’s journey.  In carrying out God’s vision for Cornerstone, we seek to accomplish two things: to see lives transformed by Christ and to reach our community through His love and grace.  We believe in “getting our hands dirty” and strive to live out our faith every day.  This position is responsible for leading the staff, volunteers and church body in carrying out the purpose and mission of our church.

If you’ve got the passion to lead the church in outreach and spiritual growth and a heart to see people who have not heard the gospel be transformed into fully-committed followers of Jesus, you just might be the person God is preparing for Cornerstone.  The ideal candidate will work to ensure the health and stability of the congregation through organizational direction and administrative oversight while shepherding and attending to the needs of the people as they are met through the various ministries of the church.

  • Team Player – the Lead Pastor will work with staff – both paid and volunteer – at multiple levels and will communicate openly and effectively to those he works with
  • Vision Caster – ability to dream big, see the big picture and contribute to, articulate, support and further develop Cornerstone’s vision
  • Heart for the Lost – we seek to show radical love to our community and the Lead Pastor will lead the way by spearheading relationships and partnerships in our community
  • Teacher/Preacher – the Lead Pastor will be an effective communicator who teaches the grace, truth and hope found in the scriptures

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide directional and visionary leadership for Cornerstone and its ministries and programs
  • Spearhead community outreach initiatives and build relationships and partnership in the local community
  • Serve as lead teacher/communicator at two Sunday morning services and other opportunities as needed
  • Nurture and communicate the vision for the church to all staff, leadership, volunteers and congregation
  • Oversee and encourage multiplication of ministry (teaching, leadership, visionary, etc) by developing and empowering both staff and volunteer leadership of the church
  • Lead the staff through appropriate direction, supervision, evaluation, counsel, care and accountability
  • Serve on the Elder Team and Staff Team/Accountable to the Elder Team

Other Staff Responsibilities:

  • Care for the congregation of Cornerstone, alongside other staff, elders and volunteers, for needs such as visitation, pastoral counseling, weddings, funerals, etc
  • Work with elders in overseeing the spiritual needs of the body and the integrity of the ministry as it relates to the church’s purpose and values
  • Work with the staff to encourage and empower them toward effective balanced ministry
  • Maintain consistent Christian testimony, stay fresh in relationship with Christ, effective with family and creative in ministry
  • Maintain relational, spiritual and professional trust with elders and staff

  • Strong desire to see lives in the local community transformed by the gospel and the Church mobilized to live out the Great Commission
  • People-oriented and relational
  • Dynamic Communicator
  • Proven success in leadership development, strategy and big-picture thinking
  • Strong and prayerful leader who exhibits humility and decisiveness
  • Reflect the biblical qualities in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • In agreement and alignment with Cornerstone’s mission, vision, values and doctrine
  • Solid work ethic, self-starter and willing to do what it takes to get the job done
  • At least 2 years of proven pastoral experience with a track record of successfully being used by God to grow a ministry (preferably in a church setting)
  • Don’t take yourself too seriously and like having fun

If you meet these qualifications and have a desire to see God continue to change lives in a great community, we want to hear from you! Please send your resume and cover letter, including a brief testimony of how God has transformed your life and used your story to impact others, to
