Position Summary:
The NextGen Pastor partners with parents and volunteer leaders to develop, disciple and lead their students to grow in their relationship with Christ. This leader will also recruit, coach, train and lead volunteers to love and lead students to be relational disciple-makers. Finally, the NextGen Pastor is responsible for developing relationships in the community with schools and organizations in order to continue to build bridges into places of influence.

 

  • Lives out the Vision, Mission and Values of Highland Heights Baptist Church as directed by leadership.
  • Actively participates in Highlands’s discipleship process (leads a group or is in a group).
  • A high-capacity leader of leaders. Trains and invests in leaders to engage and equip students to become both disciples and disciple-makers who are following Christ, being changed by Christ, and committed to the mission of Christ.
  • Prepares and delivers messages once a month that engage students and help them understand God’s word and apply it their lives.
  • Develops and maintains an annual plan that ensures continuous improvement and healthy growth of student involvement. Develops and implements volunteer recruitment methods and processes to ensure a healthy student ministry growth rate over time.
  • Overall leader of the student ministry team including continuous oversight of daily tasks/duties, team meetings, trainings, and events planned by the ministry team.
  • Provides overall directional leadership and age-graded vision and strategy for student ministry (grades 5-College).
  • Evaluates student ministry activities with the Administrative and Connections Pastor, and implements recommended changes and/or improvements as needed.
  • Oversees the development of the annual department budget and reviews monthly financial metrics to ensure budget/spending targets are met or exceeded as directed by leadership.
  • Keeps leadership informed of student ministry dynamics (spiritual atmosphere, health, facilities, staff).
  • Builds strong relationships with key campus leaders, staff, volunteers and parents
  • Models and encourages personal spiritual development and performs spiritual counseling as requested and appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
  • Christ Follower: Must be a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church or willing to transfer membership to Highland Heights Baptist Church.
  • Life Calling: Received a call from God to full-time ministry with genuine love and passion for God’s people.
  • Education: High school diploma required, bachelors or graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience: Must have prior ministry experience and understand the workings of a church setting.
