Job Description:

Shepherd's Gate Church is looking to hire a full-time Youth Director. We are located in northern Macomb County, a suburb of Metro Detroit. Shepherd's Gate is looking for someone to join our team and work with our Teaching Pastor, Children's Director, and Guest Services Coordinator to create ways of assimilating students into the life of this congregation on Sunday mornings, connecting with and building exciting and engaging programs for our Junior High students, Confirmation students, Senior High students and young adults to connect those who are not connected with Jesus and lead all into a growing relationship with Him. This person will also participcate in church sponsored activities assisting the Lead and Family Pastors. The Student Director will also be asked to train volunteers to be teachers and mentors for our youth along with tracking attendance in the ministries under your care, setting goals and objectives for all the ministries within your responsibility, plus forming a workable budget and evaluating existing programs under your direction to determine their effectiveness.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select, recruit, train and and motivate volunteers and leaders to assist in performing duties of this position.
  • Create exciting Youth Groups for our Junior High and Senior High students.
  • Oversee the curriculum for the youth of this congregation, so they grow spiritually and relationally.
  • Plan and implement programming for young adults including connecting events, retreats, mission trips, Bible Studies, etc.
  • Plan and execute bi-yearly youth mission trips in the United States.
  • Create a summer program for students in the Junior High and Senior High to keep them connected and excited about their relationship with God.
  • Lead and facilitate the First Communion and Confirmation program of Shepherd's Gate always keeping in mind our home centered-church supported philosphy.
Relationships:
  • Build strong relationships with all youth of Shepherd's Gate and into the community through attending special events within the community: sporting events, plays, concerts, etc., and getting involved with the lives of our youth and families.
  • Show passion and concern when it comes to the spiritual well being of all youth whether they are active within the current programing or not.
  • Stay in communication with all youth of the church and always seek to continue to help them connect within our ministries for their spiritual and relational growth.
  • You will be expected to exemplify the warmth of Shepherd's Gate when dealing with others, along with participating in church sponsored activities assisting the Lead and Teaching Pastors.
  • You will also send out College Care Packages to students who are living away from home so they feel a part of Shepherd's Gate and stay connected to the church.
  • Encourage and recruit youth to participate in serving in the Kids, SpringHill, and other Children's and Family ministry serving opportunities.
