Job Description:

Description:  The Contemporary Worship Director plans, prepares and implements weekly Sunday worship at our 10:30 a.m. service, leading the Praise Team to grow musically and as disciples of Jesus Christ and leading the congregation in Christ-centered, Spirit-filled, biblically-inspired worship.  The Director will also be given the responsibility to create new worship opportunities.

 

In order to fulfill the above description the Director will work in close relationship with the following staff and teams:
1) Preaching Pastors
2) Praise Team Musicians and Singers
3) Media Director
4) Technology Team
5) Secretary

 

Tasks: 

1)      Plan 10:30 worship each week including music selection, video and other elements.

2)      Recruit, audition and incorporate musicians and singers from the congregation and beyond as appropriate.

3)      Establish and direct weekly Praise Team rehearsals.

4)      Provide scriptural devotional conversation at the beginning of each rehearsal to help team members grow in faith as well as in worship leadership.

5)      Prepare Pro-Presenter liturgy, sermon and song lyric slides weekly for all worship services.

6)      Assure appropriate communication with each week’s media support person for all services.

7)      Maintain 10:30 music, YouTube and Pro-Presenter files.

8)      Participate in CCLI reporting.

9)      Begin development of a third worship service at an alternate day/time in a fully contemporary style to be defined by the Director in conversation with the pastors.

 

Technology:  The Director will need a working knowledge of Pro-Presenter and will need to become familiar with the operation of the Sanctuary and Great Hall sound and video systems.  Other software the Director will need to utilize includes Microsoft Office, g-mail and the Logos database of members.

 

Personal skills and characteristics:

1)      Ability to articulate personal faith in Jesus Christ.

2)      Ability to articulate a call to ministry in the local church.

3)      Ability to lead worship musically and vocally without a team.

4)      Ability to audition vocalists and musicians and select those who will function together as a team.

5)      Ability to work with a team of musicians and vocalists to equip them for worship leadership.

6)      Ability to lead others in the study of Scripture.

7)      Evidence of growth in the fruits of the Spirit and desire for continued growth in personal relationship with Jesus.

 

Other responsibilities:

            Tuesday staff meetings every other week at 3:00 p.m.

            Church Council Meetings – usually every other month on the fourth Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

            Write occasional articles for Grace Notes

            Be available for special events periodically, such as concerts, prayer meetings, special

            worship services, funerals, weddings

           

Supervision:  Reports to the Pastors and the Staff Parish Relations Committee.

 

Hours:  40 hours a week with flexible schedule as set by the Director.
