Job Description:

My name is Jeremy White, and I serve as Lead Pastor at Valley Church in Vacaville, California (www.valleychurch.com). As someone who works closely with our worship leaders to design meaningful, creative and Christ-centered worship experiences for God's people, I am also leading this search for our next great leader of this critical ministry.

Valley is an awesome church in a great location. This opportunity is an amazing combination of a great city in which to raise a family, joined with incredible need of the gospel as we are located between Sacramento and San Francisco. We recently planted a church in the neighboring university town of Davis, and are looking to move ahead with continued regional impact through future church plants and/or campuses. We are affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America.

We have a fairly young staff (almost all of our department leaders are in their 30’s and I’m 43), and we are looking for someone who is both effective in engaging worshipers from the emerging generation, as well as mature enough to lead a staff and congregation that is generationally diverse. We are 100% modern and contemporary, yet we do also honor those with traditional worship preferences with a separate video venue featuring more traditional worship styles. This venue runs at the same time as our 9:30am service on Sunday. They have their own music and liturgy, and the message is received via video cast from the main auditorium.

I have to say, this is an incredibly fun staff, a great environment to work and raise a family, and an amazing mission field, given we are located right in between two of the West Coast’s most influential cities. The transition of our previous worship pastor was a positive one, and our staff is healthy, vibrant and relational - committed to quality ministry while at the same time very cautious about not trading mere performance for authentic, grace-based relationship.

Speaking of grace, I should say that we are a very grace-oriented church, emphasizing God’s incredible kindness as the true catalyst for repentance (Rom. 2:4) and His umerited favor as the greatest means and motivation for holy living (Romans 6:14; Titus 2:11-13). Our preaching and approach to discipleship is aimed at not merely talking about grace as a doctrine or “part” of the Christian life – but as the Person of Christ who IS our life from start to finish.

The next great worship leader we are praying for will have solid experience leading in a large church context (preferably 1,000 or more) and will be skilled and passionate in leading modern worship with excellence (Passion, Jesus Culture, Hillsong, etc.). This person will oversee a department currenly involving 40-50 vounteers and several part-time employees.

Also, it is imperative that there is some kind of video link of each potential applicant available for our search team to view, in order for us to get a feel for your giftedness, personality and presence in leading God's people. If you are interested in corresponding or would like to view the job description, please email me at jwhite@valleychurch.com. I look forward to hearing from all qualified candidates. Thank you in advance for your heartfelt desire to discover God's next step in your ministry calling. If this next step is with our team at Valley, I trust God will make that clear to each of us!
