12th Street Assistant Pastor Job Description
*This Position is an expected minimum of 40 hours a week plus Sundays and Wednesday Nights.

Youth Duties @ 35% of overall duties
1. Make sure Youth Group meetings are well structured.
a. Recruit leaders to help.
b. Prepare lessons and small group material.
c. Lead or train someone to lead the youth in worship.
2. Plan and run youth activities.
3. Plan and lead camp and missions trips.
*Work with Missions Committee for Missions Trips.
4. Oversee Children’s Ministries.
a. Work with Junior Church leaders to make sure they have staffing and material needs taken care of.
b. Work with VBS Cooridantor.
5. Oversee UPWARD basketball.
6. Go to special events of the youth (school programs, sports, etc…)
*Overseeing an area may be done by delegation and encouraging the people in charge.
1. Communicate God’s Word clearly.
2. Be creative and energetic.
3. Work well with parents.
4. Be able to recruit and delegate.

Young Family Duties @ 35% of overall Duties
1. Develop Relationships with Parents of children and teens.
2. Help connect families to each other.
3. Recruit couples to work in children’s ministries.
4. Work with Education Committee.

Other Duties 30% of overall duties
1. Pulpit Supply
2. Visitor follow up
3. As Needed (As Pastor Advises)
4. Individual/Group Bible Studies (ie class on parenting, small group, discipleship)

Church desires to use the candidate’s strengths.

Report to Pastor Directly (In absence of Pastor, Report to Deacons)
Assistant works for the Pastor
Update Deacons on happenings


12th Street desires to help the Assistant Pastor grow in their knowledge of Scripture and abilities in ministry.  The hope is that many tools will be added to the Assistant's toolbelt.  The Church fully supports continued education.
