Worship Tech Leader (WTL)

Position Description

First Baptist Church, Wheaton, IL


Ministry Purpose

The Worship Tech Leader is responsible for overseeing the tech production and coordination for the tech team.


Job Qualifications

  • Gender – male or female
  • Educational Background – High School diploma
  • Experience – Familiar with Pro-Presenter software and Environmental Projection, digital soundboard/Beranger X32 and light board equipment. (Mac environment)
  • Spiritual Gifting – Preferred gifts include leadership and administration
  • Competencies  -

o    Ability to delegate duties to the tech team

o    Ability to set and achieve goals that produce timely tech production

o    Ability to train tech volunteers in the usage of tech equipment

  • Character/Spiritual Maturity
    • Demonstrate a vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, as manifested by the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)


Serving Relationships

The WTL reports to the Senior Pastor and works directly with the Worship Leader (WL).  


Serving Responsibilities – 10 Hours per Week

  • Tech Production –90% (9 Hours)

o    Oversee the technical production of worship services.

o    Oversee the scheduling for the sound booth personnel.

o    Attend the mid-week worship rehearsal.

o    Oversee the uploading of lyrics, announcements and sermon each Sunday’s projection

o    Manage all technical personnel each week.

o    Be able to operate and maintain the sound booth software and hardware.

o    Be in the sound booth every Sunday to prep for the service and be responsible for sound, projection and lights during the worship service.

o    Empower the tech team to support the worship service.

o    Train the tech volunteers to operate the sound, projection and light equipment in the sound booth and to support the WL in fulfilling the worship objectives.


  • Coordination - 10% (1 Hours)

o    Meet with the Senior Pastor when needed.

o    Meet with WL weekly to support the worship service.



Serving Expectations

This position involves working evenings and Sunday mornings 10 hours per week.


Employment Status

This position is classified as Part-Time, Hourly, and Non-Exempt per the Fair Labor Standards Act.
