About the Church:

We have partnered with a growing, mainline church in the midwestern United States. This church possesses rich history balanced with modern worship services and relevant messages. They are seeking a Family Pastor who will train, mentor and lead their dedicated volunteer workers in the children's and youth ministries. There is special emphasis on the children's ministry (pre K-5); as they serve a community of young families seeking excellence in their Sunday school programming.

This is a position that will grow alongside the church and the congregation, creating programming for all aspects of family ministry from childhood to adults. This position will require the following:

- Gifted and excited to work with all ages, as this position is a blend between children/youth (60%) and adult (40%) ministry. The job description is intentionally broad, leaving room for the evolving needs of the church and consideration for the unique gifts of the individual called to the position.

- Able to work alongside our existing team of excellent volunteers to provide leadership and direction to our ministry to families with children and youth (4-K through high school) and champion our vision to equip parents to be the primary spiritual influence in their families.

- Serve as part of the greater pastoral and staff team, working to incorporate all ages in as many aspects of the church as possible. This will include providing direction, vision and leadership to various areas of ministry, scheduled preaching, pastoral care, outreach, and other responsibilities as needed.

Role Responsibilities:

The Family Pastor will work in conjunction with the lead pastor, other staff and strong volunteer teams to expand our ministry to all ages, with an emphasis on children/youth (60%) and adult (40%) ministry. This position reports directly to the lead pastor and will be responsible for:

  1. Serving as part of the greater pastoral and staff team, incorporating all ages in as many aspects of the church as possible.
  2. Overseeing the children and youth ministries through coordinating and directing the implementation of its mission and vision.
  3. Working as part of a highly flexible staff and leadership team, helping in all areas of ministry to accomplish common goals.
  4. Assisting in other areas of ministry as needed, especially in worship and outreach.

Educational / Experience Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will have strong relational skills, administration and coordination, a passion for equipping others, a calling to disciple children and adults in a multigenerational church, and an excitement about being part of a larger team working together toward common goals.
  • Formal education and/or experience leading family and youth/children’s ministry is required.
  • Interested candidates do not need to be from a mainline background, but should be able to demonstrate an understanding of mainline traditions, philosophy and have a desire to serve in a mainline church.
