Summary of Position


The Children’s Ministry Director, having a heart for children and volunteers of all ages, is responsible for the vision and strategic leadership of the Children’s Ministry. The ministry seeks to develop and foster a welcoming, safe community for children to connect to God and with one another, through ministry opportunities of Christian education and intentional faith development. The ministry also seeks to develop teens and adults in leadership responsibilities within the Children’s ministry.


Primary Responsibilities


To develop and implement strategic initiatives that are engaging, Gospel and Christ-centered.

  • Equip children to become committed disciples igniting a desire in them for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
  • Evaluate and maintain Gospel-centered and age-appropriate programs and curricula that complement Church of the Saviour’s vision, values and Statement of Faith.
  • Develop and empower a ministry staff team to carry out the vision and goals of the Children’s Ministry
  • Implement education in missions in collaboration with the Pastor of Global Outreach.
  • Assist/equip parents to fulfill their disciple-making role with their children.



To recruit, train and develop a cross-generational base of volunteers.

  • Equip volunteers to share the gospel and to disciple in an age-appropriate manner.
  • Equip, encourage, and empower volunteers to serve with their gifts and passions while operating within the ministry vision, principles and guidelines in a culture of grace.
  • Train volunteers in child protection including Church of the Saviour’s Child Safety policy and Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Law.


To shepherd and care for children, their families and volunteers.

  • Provide love and care through a foundation of strong and trusting relationships.
  • Use Godly discretion and judgement to shepherd children, families and volunteers as situations present themselves.
  • Partner with the Care Ministry, as needed, to support children and their families.
    • A personal and maturing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
    • Agreement with all aspects of Church of the Saviour’s Statement of Faith.
    • An ability and readiness to become a member of Church of the Saviour.
    • Demonstrated success leading others, particularly other leaders, to advance the Kingdom.
    • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
    • A Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent degree required.  Formal Biblical training preferred.
    Minimum five years’ experience leading children’s programs including summer camps
