Pastor/Chaplain Position – Part-Time

Winnetka Congregational Church

Winnetka, IL  60093


Winnetka Congregational Church is seeking a part-time pastor to focus on pastoral care.  This is an interim/acting position of approximately 15 to 20 hours per week.  The incumbent may submit as a candidate for a permanent role.


Primary responsibilities:

  • Pastoral care for the congregation, including visitation to homes, retirement centers, and hospitals, as well as office appointments.
  • Maintaining weekly prayer list.


Additional responsibilities:

  • Serve as staff liaison for lay ministry committees, as appropriate (such as the lay Care & Calling committee, which helps to coordinate and provide care to the congregation).
  • Participating in church-life activities and church governance meetings, as appropriate.
  • Help with memorials, as needed.
  • Possibility of helping with adult enrichment/education programs (based on church needs and the candidate’s interest and ability in this area).


Qualifications:  M. Div or comparable degree.  Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education desired.


Experience:  1 to 3 years of pastoral care or chaplaincy preferred.


Skills:  Ability to communicate effectively, minister to those in need, work collaboratively with staff and members of the congregation.
