Director of Children’s Ministries

Job Description

 

Purpose:

  • To help children connect with God in a fun and life-changing way.
  • To help them discover how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and actively live for Him. 
  • To create a loving environment where children can grow in their relationship with Jesus, learn God’s Word and learn to share Jesus’ love with others.

  • Committed Christ-follower
  • Love for children and families
  • Joyful spirit
  • Visionary
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Able to develop leaders and build volunteer teams
  • Experienced communicator with parents in teaching and problem solving

 

Professional Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree required; M.A. desirable
  • Theological training and/or coursework desirable
  • Meets Biblical qualifications for leadership
  • Previous experience directing and leading a children’s ministry including recruiting, training, scheduling, and developing volunteer teams (2-5 years desired).

 

Candidate will:

  1. Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Be a member in good standing.
  3. A desire to teach and mentor families with patience and an accepting heart.
  4. Preferably have an educational background in Children’s Ministries or teaching.

 

Responsible to:

Reports directly to the Lead Pastor who is under the authority of the Elders. All staff team members at The River Church collaborate to accomplish our shared mission.

 

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1.  Responsibility for the oversight and leadership of the children’s ministries that include: Sunday morning children’s classes, parenting classes, special events and outreach events.
  2. Have a vision and strategy to reach more children and families in our community.
  3. Recruit, train, pray for and shepherd new ministry volunteers as well as exiting volunteers.
  4. Create and effectively manage the ministry’s budget.
  5. Maintain ministry’s section on the website.
  6. Communicate consistently with parents and equip them for spiritual leadership in their homes.

 

Other General Expectations include:

  1. Maintain personal spiritual growth and development.
  2. Give close attention to detail, having an eye for excellence.
  3. Be a self-starter, multi-tasker and high capacity person in general.
  4. Have a basic working understanding of “Orange” Family Ministries (Think Orange, The Essence of Orange, Reggie Joiner)
