Position Overview:

First Baptist Church Beaverton is a multi-cultural church that is in the midst of transitioning from one era to the next.  FBC is in year four of an approximate seven-year transition from a church for church people to a church culture that is also welcoming to non-churched people.  FBC desires to become a church that is in the 10% of churches growing due to actually reaching the lost.  Our church has come to understand that in order to reach the lost in our community, we must change the way we do church.  At FBC, we want our heart to break for those things that break the heart of God.  FBC just hired a new Lead Pastor, who has been on board for less than 6 months and we are now looking for a Worship/Creative Arts Pastor to join our Lead Pastor in developing and implementing a new vision for reaching those who don’t know Christ, while serving those who do.  The Associate Pastor of Worship/Creative Arts is a spiritual and organizational leader who oversees the worship ministry of FBC Beaverton.  Oversight of the worship ministry includes, but is not limited to, working alongside our Lead Pastor to craft a Sunday morning environment that is creative, done with excellence and relevant to our everyday lives; developing and nurturing a team of individuals that will use music and the arts throughout the organization with the purpose of creating opportunities for people to take a next step toward Jesus; and to balance the needs of an older generation while making inroads to the next generation.




·     Lead music during all services and specific events

·     Schedule band and rehearsals

·     Responsible for planning, prep, and execution of all worship opportunities

·     Responsible for producing a weekend service through a team of music and production volunteers

·     Maintain and upkeep of ProPresenter and CCLI Compliance

·     All tech and A/V systems management and development

·     Develop creative elements and stage design based on series

·     Set annual goals (Key Result Areas - KRAs) for the worship ministry that are in line with our vision and evaluate regularly

·     Train, develop, and delegate tasks to the volunteer team through on-the-job-training times, one-on-one skill training and other methods

·     Pastorally care for your volunteer team

·     Work closely with the Lead Pastor to do everything necessary to impact our community and reach lost people

·     Other responsibilities as needed (dependent on skill set and passion)



·     Ability to lead people at a high level

·     Experience in leading worship, vocalists and musicians

·     Track record of success as a team builder

·     Experience in leading worship that transcends modern, contemporary and traditional genres

·     Proficiency in playing piano or guitar with the ability to lead while playing

·     Ability to train others in singing and/or playing an instrument

·     Ability to be a team player and adapt to a changing environment

·     Ability to make tough decisions and have tough conversations for the betterment of FBC

·     Display a driven personality and high work ethic

·     Willingness to constantly learn and receive feedback from leadership and volunteers

·     Heart for discipleship

·     Skilled in the use of technology in worship and in the use of sound, lighting, computers and video projection

Experience and Education

·     At least 3 years experience as a full-time worship pastor in a church setting

·     Bachelor's Degree in worship, Bible or ministry preferred
