About the Organization:

Willow Creek Community Church (WCCC, Willow Creek, or Willow) is a thriving, multisite church with a weekly attendance of more than 25,000 people. Willow has achieved broad, global influence across a wide range of denominations and throughout the business world as a resource for those seeking to implement “best practices.” These have largely been in the areas of reaching those far from God through relevant, biblical teaching and weekend services, developing impactful teams, providing world-class leadership training, building organizational excellence, and leading compassion and justice initiatives that change the community and the world.


Current Senior Pastor Bill Hybels founded Willow Creek in 1975 and continues to spearhead the leadership of the church, alongside an executive team and a broader leadership team of ministry directors.


About the Position:

The Group Life Director will provide leadership, oversight, and coordination of small groups and section communities at the South Barrington campus. This position will develop leaders in order to grow the small group and midsize group ministry with indirect involvement of the assimilation process to plug in new attendees at Willow so as to ensure all members have a place to belong and are able to develop relationships that lead to spiritual growth and meaningful membership. The successful candidate for this role will be an exceedingly strong builder of both people and processes. They will have a firm grasp of systems and development, with a high sense of relational intelligence and team-building skills that can scale as the church continues to grow. They will build a sustainable leadership pipeline that not only disciples people, but also equips and raises the next generation of leaders both in small groups ministry and the church at large.

What We Are Searching For:

The Group Life Director will be an experienced leader and administrator. They will have a strategic thought process in managing new initiatives, dealing with ambiguity, identifying effective solutions and envisioning future state. The ideal prospect will be people-centric with interpersonal relational intelligence, alongside an essential skill set that contributes to a highly intuitive style of leadership.


The successful candidate will likely have an undergraduate college degree.

Ideally, this individual will possess an extensive background in small group management, at a minimum, displaying the ability to disciple, coach, and develop leaders in a large, growing church environment as well as managing a department/ministry budget.
