Located in Columbia, Maryland, St John Baptist Church is a middle class, inter-generational congregation whose mission is to be a thriving spiritual center that reaches people for Christ, and builds believers to be Christ-like.


Led by Rev. Dr. Robert A.F. Turner, St John Baptist Church is known throughout the region for its 3 distinct Sunday worship services, engagement in the community through outreach programs, and participation in social justice initiatives.

About the Position:

The primary purpose of the Executive Director of Ministries and Operations is to lead and manage the staff, oversee the development and strategies of all ministries and systems, and oversee and manage ministry area volunteers and all of the business, financial, human resources and day-to-day operations of the church.  It is essential that the candidate aligns with the doctrine of SJBC and be able to partner with the senior pastor as the primary implementer of the church’s mission, vision and strategic plan.

What We Are Searching For/Qualifications:

A MBA or Masters degree with a concentration in business, technology or organizational development is preferred.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of ministry growth in a community setting that has interactions with people from multi-generational backgrounds and economic statuses. The candidate will have at least 10 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years working as an effective leader of ministry teams at the senior level with responsibility in the area of human resources. Providing vision and accountability for volunteers and staff and the creation of various organizational goals and systems in a medium/large church context is preferred.
