Job title:  Minister of Children/Preschool

Reports To:  Executive Pastor

Supervises:  Children’s Ministry Assistants and Volunteers

Job classification: Full-time salaried

We are looking for a dynamic leader who is passionate about teaching Children the gospel and engaging families in the mission of the church.   More information about First Baptist Church Fort Mill can be found on our website

Functions:  Accountable to the Executive Pastor in consultation with the Personnel Committee for the planning, conducting, and evaluating of a comprehensive program of Christian Education for children (grades 1-5) and preschoolers (birth-K).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the following:
  • Sunday morning ministry to preschoolers and children (Infant – 5th grade)
  • Sunday Night activities for Infant – 5th
  • Wednesday night activities for Infant – 5th
  • The process for new Christians (5th and under) including the class prior to baptism
  • The planning of special events (such as fall outreach, camps, family worship experiences)
  • All safety and security efforts as they pertain to children and their families
  • Provide on-going equipping and encouraging of volunteers who serve in all areas of Children’s Ministry
  • Provide opportunities in ministry to entire families (such as classes for parents, Parents’ Night Out, Parent/Child dedication class and service)
  • Serve as the supervisor for Children’s Ministry assistants, including the Mother’s Morning Out Director.
  • Participates as a member of the staff leadership team
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  •  A Christian who models an authentic Christian lifestyle reflecting the highest moral character

  • Works well in a Christ-centered team environment
  • Highly relational with the ability to interact comfortably with children and adults



  • High school degree required
  • 2+ years of professional work experience preferred
  • Previous Children’s Ministry experience
  • Training and/or experience in child development is preferred
