Job Description:

Position Summary:  Responsible for functions related to student ministries in the areas of outreach, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry as they serve junior high, high school and college aged students.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism, as well as ministry and mission opportunities.
- Recruit, train and shepherd volunteer youth staff with diverse gifts and personalities.
- Provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth.
- Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ministry activities, using all appropriate and effective methods of communication (email, website, social media, etc.). Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
- Support CBC parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles, in concert with other pastoral staff.
- Assist in the development and oversight of the youth ministry budget; manage student fees for events and trips in a timely fashion.
- Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally cross-generational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries.
- Participate as needed or requested in the evaluation and development of the overall church ministry.
- Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Position Requirements:
- One who has accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and exhibits the “fruit of the Spirit” in his life.
- One who possesses a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and/or significant experience in youth ministry.
- Basic administrative skills, and a personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for elders/leaders (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
- Must work with adult volunteers and youth staff to cast a long-term vision for CBC youth ministries that reflects CBC’s values and goals. He must then be able to establish and implement a plan to achieve that vision.
- One who is gifted and is called to youth ministry, loves young people, and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
- An engaging teacher with a strong biblical and theological background, who is in agreement with CBC’s doctrines.
- A self-motivated leader who can recruit adult volunteers and student leaders, helping them develop and use their spiritual gifts as they partner with him to meet the needs of young people.

 

Expectations:
- Attend church services, activities and prescribed meetings.
- Stay current with youth ministry practices by reading, attending youth leadership conferences, etc., and include volunteer staff in these practices as appropraite.
- Weekly one hour one-on-one mentoring by the Lead Pastor so he may provide encouragement, direction, support, and challenge you toward holiness and righteousness.
- Present semi-annual ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the Elder Leadership Team.
- Participate in two job performance reviews each year.
- Present a yearly youth budget proposal.
- Occasional preaching and teaching in main church services as directed.
