Baycities Community Church Lomita is a church made up of people of the South Bay in Southern California, who love and follow Jesus, each other and their neighbors both local and global. The church believes the Bible is the inerrant and reliable word of God, and is committed to helping people find, love and follow Jesus! They endeavor each week to teach people the Bible in creative and compelling ways in order to seek and understand what God leads them to do as followers of Jesus and to reach and disciple lost people with the message of Jesus.


Since 1988, Baycities Community Church has had a simple goal – to help people connect with Jesus through the Word of God, find community, and serve alongside fellow believers. From its Kids Ministry, Junior/Senior High Ministries, Small Group Ministries, and outreach ministries that extend throughout the world, Baycities as a Missionary Church aims to do their part & ‘be’ the church of Jesus Christ through its central location in Lomita, California.

About the Position:

The Youth Pastor for Baycities Community Church will build and lead a thriving High School and Junior High student ministry. This position will offer the necessary vision and creativity to lay the foundation for a College & Singles Ministry within the first three years of assuming the role of Youth Pastor. This key staff member will report to the Senior Pastor and possess the desire and eagerness to be mentored and to grow in their Youth Ministry, preaching and teaching skills. Opportunities will be made available to bring the right candidate onto the pastoral teaching team, with increased responsibilities and growth as a key member of the pastoral staff. This position will be highly considered for ministry advancement and senior leadership roles based on performance.

What We Are Searching For:

This individual will first and foremost be a shepherd/pastor, then a leader/visionary, followed by a teacher/preacher, and finally an administrator/manager. Success in this role will be determined by growing the program, leadership, size and reach of the student ministries at Baycities, where the youth ministry doubles in size within a three year timeframe, significantly increasing its current capacity of 50 students.


The Youth Pastor candidate will meet the following requirement and practical experience necessary for the role, including:

  • An undergraduate degree
  • Bible training, either through undergrad or seminary
  • 3-5 years as a Youth Pastor or Student Ministries Pastor
  • Strong references of successful Youth Ministry Pastoral leadership and ministry experience
  • Proven history of creative thinking and problem solving
  • A developer of leaders
  • A pioneering spirit
  • A team player and proven collaborator
