Job Description:

This is a key staff position in the life of our congregation. Our director will function with a high level of visibility in the church and community. He/She shall engage our people with opportunities to be introduced to the Gospel, grow in faith, discover gifts for service, and mature in the faith. This leader will relate well with all ages, be comfortable in a leadership role, be able to share a genuine faith and inspire others, and instill an overall excitement about going deeper in faith.



·         Integrity, Christian faith, character, and a model of the Christian lifestyle.

·         Christian values, communicated with clarity and effectiveness to children, youth, and adults.

·         Self-starting, with an encouraging and enthusiastic attitude and the ability to develop positive relationships in working as part of a team.

·         Initiative and commitment to do whatever it takes to make disciples of Christ, especially among children.

·         Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.

·         Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information received as such.

·         Computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, email, and the Internet.

·         Flexibility to perform additional duties in the area of Christian Education as assigned by the Pastor or Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC).


Education and Experience Preferences:

·         A bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent education/training and experience is preferred.

·         Experience in ministry with children and youth.

·         Knowledge of or experience with Orange Curriculum.

·         Graduate studies in Christian Education is welcomed.

·         Understanding and support of the United Methodist Church’s doctrine in all areas of faith and practice is preferred

·         Three years of education experience is preferred.
