Blackhawk Church (www.blackhawkchurch.org) is a multi-site, multi-venue, intergenerational church with a passion for reaching our community. Located in Madison, Wisconsin - capital city, home to the Big 10’s University of Wisconsin and a thriving place for young adults - Blackhawk is looking for an Associate Director of Worship Arts to help lead our growing congregation in God-centered, culturally relevant worship. Along with musical gifting and platform experience, the ideal candidate will bring skills and prior experience in volunteer and leader development, as well as strategic ministry leadership. Title: Associate Director of Worship Arts

Reports to: Pastor of Worship Arts

Status: Full-time (40 hours/week), Exempt

Start Date: After July 1, 2017

Position Objective: To assist in the oversight and development of the Worship Arts Ministry, with an emphasis on leading worship services at our Brader Way site, developing volunteers and leaders and providing central support for the Worship Arts Ministry. Critical is having a passion for worshiping God that invites others to participate.

 

Responsibilities

Worship Arts Ministry Leadership

  • Participate in ministry oversight, vision development, evaluation and brainstorming for growth and improvement.
  • Identify, train and develop ministry volunteers and leaders.
  • Assist in equipping and resourcing staff and leaders as part of the central support team for our “1 church, 3 locations” model.
  • Participate in the organization and implementation of Worship Arts Community-sponsored events or church-wide events requiring Worship Arts staff support.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of ideas for Sunday services, including:
  • Contribute to brainstorming, ideation and creative project development.
  • Offer logistical support to the creative process and teaching pastors by assisting in administration of creative projects (e.g., video pieces, special songs, spoken word, stage pieces, props, etc.).
  • Provide leadership in other areas of the ministry based on need, gifting, capacity and interest.

 

Worship Leading

  • Regularly lead worship services (primarily at Brader Way) and continually develop platform skills.
  • Develop and train worship leaders.
  • Coach and develop specific volunteer worship leaders and intern worship leaders.

     

Qualifications and Skills

Stable, mature, growing disciple of Jesus Christ, committed to the values of Blackhawk Church

Exhibit a spirit of joy and helpfulness       

Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills

Experience with volunteer teams, maximizing contributions of volunteers and their gifts

Experience in leading contemporary worship settings

Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office suite

Strong organizational and project management skills

Self-initiator, responsible, flexible, problem-solver, team player, high-energy

Exercise mature and independent judgment, confidentiality and tact

     

Preferred, but not essential:

Experience leading a worship ministry in a church setting

Experience in teaching musical techniques and coaching improvement of skills

Trained musically in a college or conservatory setting, skilled in variety of styles

Experience with Pro-Tools software, looping software and playback, Planning Center Online

Trained in music composition and arranging; experience with Finale software
