Since its founding, The Pursuit has strived to share God’s good news with the people of the Treasure Valley. Over the last 12 years, we have experienced much success and growth, though now are in a transitional phase following the departure of our founding pastor. This transitional period has also been a reinvigorating time for The Pursuit as we renew our focus on our strengths as a local church. We are excited to welcome a new Lead Pastor onto the team to continue to lead us forward!

 

The Pursuit has two campuses strategically located at the east and west ends of the Boise area to best reach into our communities. A highly talented staff currently oversees the various ministries at The Pursuit, where the average Sunday attendance is around 750 adults between both campuses.

 

Job Title: Lead Pastor

 

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree, plus 10-12 years ministry experience, or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.

Five years experience in a leadership role

Five years experience in a pastoral role

Preferred leadership in a church of 500 or more people.

 

Reports To: Pursuit Elder Team

 

Position Description:

 

The Lead Pastor position at The Pursuit is responsible for the overall care and shepherding of the Church congregation at all campuses. His role is to champion our mission to walk with God, connect with people and impact the world, as well as to share God’s word from the platform. The Pursuit believes deeply in evangelism. As lead pastor you would be championing that belief through your various areas of responsibilities. 

 

Major Areas of Responsibility:

 

Shepherding/Mentoring:

  • Possesses a strong biblical foundation and solid theological convictions that are aligned with The Pursuit’s values and leadership.
  • Teaches and models full devotion to Christ.
  • Empowers Christians to walk with God and live a God honoring life.
  • Leads the church in impacting those outside the walls of the church.
  • Ensures that a safe place exists for seekers and skeptics to investigate God at all campuses.
  • Actively monitors the pulse of the congregation, maintains a strong understanding of group dynamics and works to incorporate that knowledge into decision making.
  • Shepherds and manages all direct reports.
  • Pastoral care (visitation of those in hospitals, those who are incarcerated, performing weddings and funerals, etc.).

 

Leadership:

  • Leader of leaders
  • Fosters a culture of High Capacity Volunteers
  • Develops Staff Members
  • Casts vision and leads discussion on goal setting and the initiatives needed to reach those goals.
  • Leads the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ensures that The Pursuit is maintaining relevance and thriving while dealing with the inevitable changes faced by a growing local church.
  • Demonstrates and exhibits a strong marriage and family life.
  • Actively engages in the budget and financial processes of The Pursuit.

 

Communication:

  • Responsible for effective communication throughout The Pursuit staff and congregations at all campuses.
  • Oversees the preaching team.
  • Regularly communicates from the platform at all campuses.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Hours worked according to the needs of the ministry; full time.
  • The Lead Pastor is part of the pastoral on-call team.
