Pastor to Youth and Young Families


Position Summary

Led by the Holy Spirit, the Pastor to Youth and Young Families is responsible for equipping K to 12th grade students and young families in becoming devoted followers of Christ.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Equip and support families in making the home the primary site of discipleship of youth.
  • Teach scripture and its practical application to our daily lives.
  • Connect intentionally with, and be involved in, the lives of youth – establishing authentic and trusting relationships.
  • Organize, coordinate, and oversee programs and ministries for youth and young families (e.g. youth group, Sunday School, service projects, retreats, seasonal activities, Confirmation, etc).
  • Seek, train and lead youth leader volunteers.

Other Duties:

  • Support the mission of FCC.
  • Encourage active youth involvement in leadership opportunities in youth ministry and in the life of the church.
  • Provide frequent communication with families/parents.
  • Maintain a strong presence during Sunday morning worship by providing leadership and preaching occasionally.  It is preferred that the successful applicant will have musical ability and provide inspirational worship music opportunities.
  • Serve under the day-to-day supervision of the Senior Pastor and collaborate with Worship Leader and other FCC staff.
  • Serve as ex-officio member of the Christian Education Committee.
  • Maintain a record of pastoral work and provide reports of that work to the pastor and church board.  Submit a written report of pastoral work at the monthly meeting of the board. 


Report to:  Church Board and Senior Pastor.  Periodic reviews performed by the Board in consultation with the Pastoral Relations Committee.

Compensation and Hours:  Full-time, salaried. The church board works with the Pastor to Youth and Young Families to make sure that the pastor is able to devote adequate time to fulfilling the duties outlined above as well as to observe Sabbath, rest, and family time.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Housing for qualified applicant provided by the church.



The pastors of the church shall meet the New Testament requirements of their office as specified in 1 Timothy 3: 2-7. This new position of Pastor to Youth and Young Families does not necessarily require credentialing within the Evangelical Covenant Church.  However, this position does require the successful applicant to follow the rules of Ordered Ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church and all resource papers and affirmations of the denomination.  They shall by virtue of their call be members of the church.  All staff are required to have a background check before employment commences.  The processing fee will be paid by the church.
