About the Location:

Beautiful homes, green fields, and peaceful pastures make up the town of Goldsby, located on the outskirts of Norman, just 4 miles from the University of Oklahoma.  Goldsby is a rural community at its heart, but Norman is making inroads as more and more urbanites move across the river to build in one of the quickly-growing subdivisions.  Goldsby has experienced a 66 percent growth rate in the past ten years.  As of the 2015 census, its median household income was $77,500 and its population was 2,102, a number that continues to rise.

Goldsby Baptist Church sits on the dividing line between two cultures, on the street that divides the Norman and Washington school districts.  To the south of the church, life revolves around the small town of Washington, population just over 600, where school sports reign supreme and the entire town turns out for Friday-night football games.   The elementary, middle, and high school all share one campus, which is the hub of the town.  Parents and kids alike are so involved in softball, cheerleading, and basketball that finding time for other activities is sometimes difficult.  Many families have lived here for generations, and the phrase “everyone knows everyone” really is pretty much true.  That sense of family is woven into our congregation, the majority of whom come from the Washington area.  They are friendly, welcoming, and rural.

But to the north of the church, the farms fade out and the city begins.  Norman has 17 elementary schools, four middle school, and two high schools, both ranked among the state’s most academically challenging.  It’s a town adorned in crimson and cream for the University of Oklahoma Sooners. The over 120,000 people who live in Norman enjoy museums, malls, parks, soccer leagues, and movie theaters.  Just 20 minutes north of Norman is the state’s capital, Oklahoma City, with its amusement park, Frontier City.  Oklahoma City also offers water parks, a zoo, and a white-water rafting course.  Several in our congregation work in Norman businesses, hospitals, and schools.  Norman is also the home of some half-way houses filled with folks recovering from addictions, many of whom have made their way to our church.

We are seeking to be a church that embraces both cultures – the rural and the urban, and the lostness that lies within them both. Come join us.

Applicants:  Your resume should include a brief testimony of how you came to faith in Jesus, and a statement of your calling to ministry.  Once completed, please email your resume with cover letter and a picture to
